This song ranks among my favorite rock song solos category. And Skunk's outro is the best of the mini solos contained in song. Thanks for putting that fact in video title......And by the way, great job nailing this! Enjoyed it immensely! 👏
i love your extreme messy curly super long hair, have you ever brshed it, straightened it, how do you see through it all and how come its a staple in metal rock music etc or just the way guys love it so much
I wash it every day, brush the knots and tangles out then let it dry on its own...no idea why it's such a staple but I've enjoyed having long hair for over twenty years and don't plan to stop!
@@tomdraperguitarist well said Tom I’m so glad you didn’t stoop to their level and rose above that stupid comment. thank you for taking time out and doing this wonderful video. I think we have to feel sorry for people that care more about hair than about the wonderful guitar playing. just found your channel and have immediately subbed.
That's is absolutely phenomenal Tom!! Any interest in recording a lead on my version of this song? I think I have it all precisely correct, except for the lead. Please say YES!!
The mp3 I have on my computer is ripped from my dad's old vinyl copy, and it transferred slightly sharp, probably an issue with the cheap record player - I tuned my guitar to the mp3 which is somewhere between E and F. Good ear!
@@tomdraperguitarist LOL I appreciate the quick reply. Just realized you're playing it in E standard. I am just high and was watching you play it differently than I do on the 12th fret.
Awesome. Now, do it like Skunk did. Huh? He walked into the studio stone cold. First take, maybe second. Guys like Baxter and Steve Lukather do that stuff stone cold off the top of their heads.
Oh no way I couldn't! Players like Baxter and Luke are on another level, this took me a while to figure out and play well enough to share. Their excellence is truly inspiring, we're lucky to have the records they played on to keep their magic alive forever.
The best part of the story, as told by Jeff, is that he played the session on a strat copy he hand built THAT DAY. Supposedly one take.
I think he finished the guitar that day, or had just finished it. But yea, fantastic story.
Could be that one strat that had a bizarre looking wood finish that you could find on google of him noodling on it
Flipping amazing. Gifted young ma. Such a precise ear and precise action❣️
NICELY DONE!! The tone, inflection, dynamics, and the notes were dead on.

I think you're great and I applaud you. But you left out one thing. Baxter played pinch harmonics on almost every note of this solo.❤ Bravo to you!
Thanks, you’re quite right! Nobody can play it quite like Skunk.

Tasty, very tasty!
I notice you're up a full step... it's all in E standard. Why did you play it this way???

@@tomdraperguitarist Great job on the outro by the way. One of my favorite guitar bits from that era
I’m back
Back again
