      1. The unions wouldn’t allow it because it would ruin 98% of current workforce
      2. It would cause a massive drop in cops because many bad eggs would surpass the insurance claims allowed to be filed annually on 1 month and therefore 98% of the force nationwide would be either let go or would quit due to “poor job satisfaction”
      But yes, I agree.

Sure, the city has a deeper pocket, and the penalties will possibly go a long way to training cops on the law. But while the city's writing a big check, make the cop share in the pain they caused, personally, and write one, too. Not simply out of the taxpayer's dollars funding their department's budget, not out of some theoretical malpractice insurance policy, not out of their union's coffers. Out of the bad cop's own checkbook. Personally. Only once they have a stake in the consequences of their own actions will they be motivated to improve their own actions. Taxpayer's money is not a scare tactic, it's just the first step. And it's not enough. Make the bad cop put some skin in the game.

I know how bad it sucks to be handcuffed, because it’s happened to me, more than just a few times, back when I was younger. It’s not any fun, at all, believe me, but there’s no point in blaming the cops for getting the win. They have a job to do, just like the criminals.
You win some, and you lose some, but you can’t get mad at your opponent when you lose. You just have to keep getting better, and hope to improve your chances at winning the next one. That’s about all you can do, really, until you decide to walk away from the game, and start acting right.
I understand that no one likes being in trouble, and I don’t blame anyone, one bit, for feeling that way, because I never liked it, either. I can’t help but to feel sorry for anyone who gets busted by the popo, but, to be fair, if they weren’t able to do the time, then they should’ve known better than to do the crime. You might think the cops are crap, but the way it’s going you will have fewer and fewer cops and the ones who do go into police work will become lower calibre as simply it’s no longer an attractive profession.

TELL ME HE WON A SHIT LOAD OF MONEY AND THOSE TWO FOOLS WENT BACK TO ROOKIE TRAINING. PLEASE TELL ME THAT IS THE HAPPY ENDING!!!
THAT Is the garbage that makes my blood boil. My Husband is a 32 Year Cop (20 in K9) and he will not even watch these because he gets more irate than the people that have to EDUCATE A COP ON THE LAW.
THOSE are the cops that make his days harder and people take their anger out on HIM.
He IS one of the GOOD ONES and anyone that knows him (Civilians) will tell you that themselves. He is someone you WANT at your call because he will ALWAYS see Logic first and the Law next and then de escalate the issue so NO ONE is arrested or threatened or fists flying. He is THAT guy. That cop that even the (alleged) bad guy ends up saying “thank you” to.
I have NEVER, in my life, thought I would marry a cop (even though I am a Nurse and we all know that cliche) as my Daddy was a Biker so it was never on my radar (pun intended) but I did and he has been my life for 24 years and he was my Daddy’s “other” son and they got along like a house on fire and misses him almost as much as I do.
THESE COPS…..THEY are the ones I WISH would pull ME OVER and G-d help them when my husband shows up because they are going to need Him if he ever saw footage like this but it was ME in cuffs. Those two wouldn’t be able to hide.
YOU CAN NOT TREAT PEOPLE THAT WAY.
    THIS HAS TO STOP!
Like the guy ahead of me said “you go to school to be a beautician longer than you do to be a cop”……they are right in some places but not all, CLEARLY THIS STATE THEY ARE CORRECT.
THESE TWO NEED A SWIFT KCIK FROM THEIR CHIEF AND THEIR DA.
