penicillin, X-rays,
Post-it, Viagra,
Velcro, microwaves,
insulin or Teflon:
all found by chance,
by accident
by open and prepared minds!
It is so in the arts
And in poetry
Play
and you will find ...
Sometimes
we talk about inspiration
Then you have to sweat it out
Work on every word,
every expression,
every movement of the text.
But you are free
Your chest is filled with hope
The life rises in you
in a powerful and happy wave
The poem has come!

The sky repeated its chromatic scales
in generous magma shifts
it leaned with tenderness
on the clamour of Paris
which displayed its revolt
The cars were ablaze
like buttercups
in the black grass of the alleys
The clamours floated in bouquets of despair
carried by the heart of the beggars
by the beggars
the despised
the unsold
by the refractory
the illiterate
the lazy
the cynical
...
the enslaved
the forgotten
worn by the crowd in a waistcoat of light
like a happiness in the buttonhole
The king hid in his sweet gilding
The king repeated his divine comedy
in front of his phantom vassals
The king hung a smile of compassion
in the thickness of the make-up
of a powdered puppet
too pale to be happy
The foutriquet poorly hid his nakedness
under his garments of masked smugness
and his threats full of murderous tumours
Outside they played at hunting with hounds
The pack of black wolves
spat out its gas venom
and its bullets that set the bodies on fire
eyes gouged out, hands torn off
in the pain of the end of the world
The picture was one of sinister beauty
ten dead
three thousand wounded
three thousand embassied
one hundred and fifty humiliated children
But everywhere in France crocuses of hope
had grown under the drunkenness of the huts
The beggars wore yellow high
they flowered the roundabouts
like the first daffodils
they talked until they couldn't sleep
they had respect in their eyes
they drew the future
on the white paper of solidarity
erasing the ill-gotten wrinkles
in the cracks of poverty.
The beggars had life on their lips
rebirth like a jewel
in the luxury
of heartfelt words.
