    if you were in the Alpine and he was in the MX5 he would not keep up with you, the driver here is making a big difference :) good job!

      Yeah but in track day never compare you or someone to someone else because nobody has the same experience on track.
      The driver in the MX 5 has done races and track days for years and I think in the Alpine he is a casual driver on track days

      @@arturturcu the first tip you always hear for handling oversteer is "point the wheels where you want to go" and a lot of the time where you see someone get twisted up is due to them counter steering past that point. I noticed here that you always kept the wheel smoothly pointed the right way with no over corrections. The lack of snap also suggests that you didn't make any sudden throttle changes to upset the balance. I'm sure the diff made a difference too, but this right here is a master class in what one should aim for for a fast corner exit on the limit.

    • @arturturcu
      @arturturcu  2 месяца назад +3

      Right, the ultimate fun is where you use steering to initiate the turn but then keep it essentially straight with minimal steering input and managing the rotation mostly by brake on entry and throttle inputs mid turn and exit. That is why I prefer cars without signifacant aero downforce capability. It is not the fastest way but it is not always about the lap time either.

    If you use a fixed point to count the difference in time with the alpine, It's clear that you are consistantly faster in the corners!
    Then the alpine flies off as soon as there is a straight!
    It's reallly interesting for me to watch this, as I have driven an alpine on a circuit, and my car is a mx5 na...

    ND1 just needs e85 and a header to put down 180+ a the wheels.
    But in europe BBR sold cams advertised for 200HP for the 16'-18' and obviously the tune.

    Nice driving! This makes me even more excited for the nd2 i'm picking up next week to use as a daily and occasional track car :)
    Im curious about your comments about the brakes - I hated the brake feel on my previous nb2 and wanted to have a good feel this time, as close as possible to my previous elise so I chose a car with brembos - could it be related to the pads? I've heard people recommend endless pads and also saying sometimes that the stock brembos come from the factory needing a good bleed.
    Would be disappointed if the stock brembos aren't up for it even with decent pads!

    • @arturturcu
      @arturturcu  Месяц назад

      The pads make a difference, sure, but in this case I think it is how the system is designed. Please let us know about the brake feel when you get your new toy!

    damn man that was some driving there! very nice track also. I have a few question: was the transmission replaced entirely? do they still have that problem? when I was deciding between the ND and the S660 I went for the Honda because I was afraid of these transmission issues. I thought they solved them after almost 10 years of production though. The other question is if you can switch everything off on these cars by only pressing a button. I was about to say that it looked a bit like an open diff on those marked undulations and you pointed out that the diff is the main defect on track :) so strange that even making the front suspension much stiffer these are still tail happy, I guess it's really by design. I sometimes track my s2000 and this look much less snappy in comparison but most probably I just need to track more to get close to the level of driving displayed here. have fun!

    • @miner4236
      @miner4236 Месяц назад

      The ND is not tail happy. Yes transmission is still an issue, breaks very very quickly under abuse, plus a LOT of mx5 drivers have no idea how to shift, and blow the trans super quickly. The car is pretty hard to drive fast while keeping everything clean

    • @arturturcu
      @arturturcu  Месяц назад

      It is not my car but yes the transmission box had to be replaced entirely. When it works then it is flawless with smooth gear changes.
      Yes you can switch all assists off with one button. It still does some warning beeping which is slightly annoing but at least everything is off.

    This track is Hermann Tilke's magnum opus, it shows that if the FIA let him, he could have designed some of the most brilliant tracks F1 drivers would have ever raced on. But since they want to artificially create drama, instead we get these boring "Tilkedromes" where it's straight, 90º bend, straight, 60º bend, straight, rinse and repeat.
    I bet a lap in a Lotus Cortina on 5.5 inch wide bias-ply tires has to be a blast!

      @@dusanskulavik1878imho for the ND transmission gearing 3.454 or 3.580 (from automatic transmission) are great for spirited driving on winding roads. It definitely gets less comfortable when a transfer on a highway is needed, esp. on German Autobahn 😉
