Thanks, Matt. You put together a nice video for those of us that don't do this often.

The original PT Cruiser inter tie rods doesn't have the flats on it to use that tool. That is all over the internet. The aftermarket ones do and you need the tool to put those on. I'm changing mine tomorrow with Moog. I bought the tool to take off the original equip. ones off from Amazon. It kind of looks like a U bolt with teeth to grab inter to remove it.

My granddaughter has a 2002 PT Cruiser. Last week she was leaving a parking spot with her wheel turned hard left and she heard a loud pop. Later on her way home the front end started shaking and she said the car acted like the brake was on the left front. When she got home and she told me about it I thought a CV joint had broken. I cranked the car and put in gear and noticed the brake pedal was very low. I thought maybe the caliper had stuck closed and then released. There was a small amount of brake fluid below the master cylinder as if it had been forced out while driving home. I didn’t notice any noise when I drove it. I drove it to my local mechanic and he noticed the left front tire was wearing on the inside. He said the tie rod ends were worn causing the tire wear. He said he didn’t notice any noise or vibration either. I asked what had to be done to fix the tie rod ends? He said replace the rack and pinion. What? I thought everything must’ve been sold as a unit. Did I misunderstand him? His cost fix was over $600 plus a new tire. I’ve driven it a couple of times and still haven’t noticed any noise. Brake pedal is close to normal after adjusting the diaphragm in the master cylinder screw on lid. The car had over 213,000 miles so don’t doubt the TR ends are worn. Any suggestions as to what caused the pop and noise and vibration? Sorry for the long comment.

Crimson Fyre Because I tend to stack my very large shop full of project cars and then I never have room to work on my daily in there lol! I kinda hate working in the cold but it’s something I’ve just gotten used to.
