    Really nice explanation.I have one question.
    Normally ppl says diesel gives more maintenance than petrol but Between crdi diesel engine vs turbo petrol.
    Which gives us more maintenance in the longer run?
    As we all know turbo has complex structures, intercooler and hot exhaust, freq oil change, white smoke issues etc. hence the confusion.
    So please clarify

    Turbo engine also called boosted engines. The turbo charged & super charged engines usually result in high maintenance. Turbo failure can be very expensive. Western cars use min 4 cylinder engines with turbos. But Indian cars comes with mostly 3 cylinder engines. This results in high vibration, noise output.

    Video summary:
    Turbo activates only in higher rpm. Eg. 3000+ rmp. Compared to normal petrol engine, turbo engines give less mileage but they are more efficient and release less carbon than normal engines. Turbo engine weighs less than normal one and thats the reason why it's used in cars like Tata Nexon that has good build quality (1.3 ton). You can feel the turbo activation when you throttle the engine in low gear, high rpm eg. During overtaking or hill drive. Tata nexon (in Sport or city drive mode) turbo activates at 4000 rpm.

    2:18 the air from compressor part of turbocharger will be hot but it will not be directly sent to intake as it leads to PRE IGNITION (before spark, fuel mixture will ignite because of high temperature of it) and KNOCK (sound you hear because of this and this damages piston head) inside the combustion chamber and reduces performance, so INTERCOOLER used to cool the air from turbocharger and then allowed inside intakes manifold.

  • @srivathsan3
    @srivathsan3 3 года назад

    Thala, your comment at 7.20 is misleading. Turbos work on turbine connected to exhaust. The exhaust gas is let-off to catalytic converter and exhaust pipe. They won't be partly or fully reused into the car engine. Actual exhaust goes out at end of same cycle and not at the 2cycle. The compressor connected with turbine of the turbo, actually sucks in Air at pressure sent thru intercooler /Radiator and then to the inlet of engine.

    The best, old turbo petrol in India is Fiat's Tjet in Linea and Abarth. Cheapest to maintain even in 2021. In Indian market for almost 10 years. Fiat was 10 years ahead of Indian automotive time. Poor that Indians reject well engineered products.

    • @motowagon
      @motowagon  3 года назад +1

      Yes, you are right that Fiat was ahead in engine engineering and performance. But their poor ergonomics, their flopped Partnership with Tata which led to step motherly treatment to the customers in both sales and after sales and service paved way for their debacle.
      Otherwise Fiats are well build, handling cars.

    Hi team, I would like to denote one thing which may be wrongly communicated in this video,
    * Same capacity turbo petrol engine gives about 10% more mileage than a naturally aspirated petrol engine,
    * For example you can compare the Nissan Magnite's ARAI fuel efficiency figures of both engines.

    • @motowagon
      @motowagon  3 года назад +1

      Yes.. that is under ideal test conditions.. under real world usage it differs... We have clearly mentioned it.. at 100 to 110 kmph if the turbo petrol engine has a 6th gear and spins at lower RPM it will give more mileage if u whine the turbo then if will get reduced...

    Hi Team
    Intention of turbo is not to provide hot air, if you provide hot air, combustion temperature will increase which increases the NOx limits. So all turbo engine will have a intercooler, which cools down the compressed air and then fed to the engine. Turbo comes into action only after 1000/1200 rpm so that the exhaust gas can rotate the turbine faster.

    • @motowagon
      @motowagon  3 года назад +1

      Yes, compressed air at more pressure is what we meant there..
