I’ve got a 2500B with 2000 loader and a 584 with 2200 loader, love them both. If you take care of them and remember that you’re on a tractor and not a track loader they’ll last a long time.

Thanks for covering this ff. I am looking for a way to load round bales on my bale wagon in the field without moving a skid steer around from field to field anymore. I know these aren’t ideal loader tractors, but they’re a lot cheaper than another skid steer, and I’m a low budget type guy. Plus I already have a 400 just sitting here. Lol. Take care.

They do fit several models! IH would sell em with different mounting brackets for various tractors! You’d go to your local IH dealer and say Fred I want to buy a loser for my 656 or 706 etc and he’d sell you the loader for that tractor! That same loader would be sold for other models according to IH instruction and mounting brackets etc! Had two neighbors years ago bought the same loader for two different tractors from IH ! Thanks for making me recall these memories! Great video!

LOL there fanatic this is guy from Butler county. We move our bales but the 385 and a 2200 loader. Most of the guys that I run into in this part of the country always saw the 1066 was too big of tractor to ruin as you say quote ruin with a loader. I ran into a guy from Iowa Illinois Nebraska somewhere out there mentioned something about a neighbor having a 1066 and how they did in their heavy field work with he said oh yeah we have a little one like that we move round bales with it it just seemed kind of funny to me to use the tractor that big for moving around bales

That loader is just right for the 400 as far as being the right size and right fit for the tractor. We used a comparable Du-Al loader on a W-450 and it worked great. They cut it off with age with the 40/60 series tractors, but they also looked at hydraulic capacity. The 400 hydraulics are hardly adequate to run a loader not only because of pressure, but oil capacity. The 60 series tractors are the first to use Hy-Tran and run the hydraulic oil in the transmission, and by doing so, they greatly increased the reservoir capacity (8+ gallons rather than a gallon and a half.) Think about the rods of the cylinders... All four of them when fully extended... That's how much your reservoir drops. When you only have a gallon and a half, that eats it up pretty much all of it. When loaders were put on antique tractors, they typically had a PTO pump and larger tank to address that problem. The Du-Al loaders incorporated a hydraulic reservoir in the loader frame, and other manufactures have had similar ideas. The 2000 loader is much newer than the 400. I question using a 966 or 1066 on it, just as much as a 240 or B414. I wouldn't put much more than a 706 on it, but wouldn't put less than a 460 on it. The 2350 is just right on a 1066. We have a 2350 on a 1086, and it is just right for the tractor. We've never had a 2000 loader, so this is new to me... Thanks for the video again...

There were a lot of tractors these 2000 and 2001 loaders would fit that weren't listed, because the dimensions and mounting holes for the front brackets are the same. Anything from an M up through a 1456 has the same bolt pattern and distance between the frame rails at the front. The only difference is wheelbase and shape of the axle housing, square or hex. Easy enough to modify the back frame.

If you know , do tell me what actually drives the PTO on these tractors. I understand that they have the clutch, and brake pack on the rear with the big handle. I need to know what actually drives the shaft going back to that clutch pack. I know these tractors didn't have a 2 stage clutch. So I'm trying to figure out how that shaft is driven all the time when the transmission clutch is disabled.

    • @FarmallFanatic

The M, H was driven from the transmission, and would stop when the clutch pedal was pressed in. The 350 maybe the 300 ,but I know the 350 , and 450 had that clutch pack on the back. Somehow the shaft of going to it was driven any time the engine was running. I'm trying to figure out what drove that shaft. Like did they have a hydraulic motor that turned the PTO shaft all the time??? As I said I understand the clutch pack on the rear of the tractor, it's the shaft going to it that I don't understand how it gets it's power. Hope I explained, hope you have the answer.

@@FarmallFanatic yes. It even has truck tires on the front because the load was too heavy for the IH tires. There's also a winch on the back that was on a old army truck from WW2 that used to work on the farm. The winch was on a jalopy to hall wood and was put on the tractor so they could continue to use the winch. Unfortunately my grandfather never got the pto hooked to it so now it is just a counter wate for the loader.
