Intro Joey: The Boulder feels conflicted about beating up poor defenseless children in UU. Hydrapple: 6-0 Joey: The Boulder is over his conflicted feelings
That was the exact same role lando had during the previous generations, that is why he was so hated. From a person that tries to get into competitive seeing how your fav can't do shit every because the most used pokemon totally walls it is frustrating. The only difference is that you can't hate Tusk, he is cool
Honestly if it wasnt for the fighting type as a whole psychics would be ass, only 2 se types, 3 ex cmn weaknesses and mid ass moves (psychic 90 bp just isnt good enough) Ig gf rlly hate themselves for making psy goober Op in gen 1 🤑
Even with the SE against Fighting you still have Fairy with a better effectiveness board than Psychic, although a very limiting movepool (name a viable special attack that isn't Moonblast or maybe Draining Kiss)
Would be cool if they get a reverse psyshock/psystrike. A special hitting move that scales of attack. Fits the type Identity as a Psychic type move very well too.
@@edgargaebolg9307dazzling gleam is respectable and actually good in doubles. But in all honesty Moonblast is broken and almost all special attacking fairies learn the move. I'm more disappointed in the physical movepool play rough is literally the only viable move they have.
I had a specs noivern team reach 1426 in UU, the rise of Iron Boulder and Tinkaton alone got me writhing in 1240 and now I have to retire it ty for killing the noivern dream OU
problem with boulder is that it doesn't kill anything from 80% hell not even from 60. you cant just click buttons, you need the entire enemy team weakened or SD. yes its extremely fast but its not hard to play around. unlike val.
I agree with the Choice Band idea. Just from what I've seen, unboosted Boulder doesn't hit hard enough, and it doesn't want to give the free turn to the opponent given how weak it is to priority. I'm still not convinced it's a broken mon in UU. But maybe people haven't unlocked it's true potential yet.
I was messing around in uu with a life orb, electric terrain, atk booster, electric Tera type-Tera blast Boulder set that was quite fun (especially when paired with screens)
I'm still trying to figure out what Utility Umbrella does for a Vileplume besides screw it out of Chlorophyll in the sun. Is having 50% Syntheses regardless of weather worth a whole item slot? Leftovers + Rain-Nerfed Synth is still 31.25% HP at the end of the turn vs. 50% and that's basically the ONLY benefit I can see since Vileplume isn't exactly afraid of Water attacks or Thunder. I think it removes Hurricane's rain accuracy boost but it also removes the Hurricane accuracy nerf in the sun so it seems like a wash to me.
If Tapu Koko ever gets released, all the Iron paradox mons will become a lot stronger. I would love to see it happen. Only Iron valiant and threads seem viable in OU. While the protosynthesis mons pretty much define the meta at the moment...
Day 9: Love to see you try a self poison team. While not competitive it can work and catch people by surprise. Greninja with toxic spikes, taunt and eject button or gengar with toxic spikes and destiny bond plus cinderace to court change the toxic spikes to your side. With 4 pokemon that get a boost from the status like heracross with a choice band and guts, zangoose with choice scarf, eviolite specially defensive shroomish with toxic heal: protect, leech seed, and toxic, and stun spore, and a physically defensive gliscor Tera ground with toxic heal leftovers, toxic, earthquake, protect, and any other move (try ice fang for other gliscor)
@@HowlingOneify I forgot which one but It was the guy who had the list of possible bans and he said gouging fire and boulder were insanely broken. I see that that didnt age well.
Is it possible to punish hard set up moves with a high power move such as Sky Attack, Focus Punch, Giga Impact and so on? Hydrapple is slow so if you predict it's first set move you can punish hard with a really strong one.

The accuracy isn’t what’s keeping Arcanine out of OU. It simply doesn’t have good match ups into so many top pokemon (literally walled by GT for one thing).
Band boulder is dog water, if u want a band pokemon u should look for overwhealming stab Base power and a respectable attack stat. Boulder only has one of those
Wow how funny and wrong. Band is the best set by far. No need for set up and simply clicking moves makes Boulder more consistent. 120 attack is great by UU standards and 95bp is above average base power. Combined with 124 speed and it fits perfectly.
Joey, I think you should totally stop with this "they were wrong concept" as I find it total clickbait. If they think boulder fell off and you tried it in UU, then you are only proving their point even further. If you wanna prove them wrong, use in OU
"Smogon is about making sure the better player wins" game 1 was clearly decided by player skill and luck played no part... Why are some forms of RNG instantly banned and others are allowed to exist, I don't get it...
You can't completely mitigate all of the rng in pokemon, that's just not realistic, it's inherently a game of odds. Even your 100% accurate moves have damage rolls and the chance to crit. What they *try* to do (emphasis on try) is to remove any rng that cannot be reasonably played around. If your opponent gets evasion boosts and you literally cannot connect your moves because of it, you lose. There's no way to frame that as competitive, since you're genuinely just crossing your fingers and hoping that you hit. Stuff like that is what gets banned, things that feel outside of the scope of strategy and planning for your best odds to win and just become straight up gambling
@@GlossArt You cannot play around crits, you cannot play around focus miss. As I have said before, you CAN play around sand veil/snow cloak. Pokemon is a game where RNG is unavoidable, and I think that is part of the beauty of competitive pokemon, no matchup is 100-0, there is always a reason to play it out, but some people would cry bloody murder over the thought that a worse player could steal a game off of a better player due to RNG, but that is literally part of the game, it happens. If the goal is to ensure better play pays off, remove all RNG, if the goal is to play Pokemon, then just play pokemon and don't ban bad strats just because you don't like them.
oh brother this guy still goin 😭😭 the reason (outside their uncompetitiveness) stuff like Veil, cloak, king's rock etc. are banned is cuz people didn't like them. Community came together and decided they didn't want them in the meta. Votes were held and the majority didn't want them. Yea i get it sux to see some stuff people enjoy using get banned but thats how democracy works g. Also just cuz some forms of RNG exist doesn't mean others have to as well, thinking otherwise is just close-minded
@@rbb480 restricting player options because “people don’t like it” is just bad game design, period, that is a fact and I am not here to debate that. I am all for banning things that are overpowered, because the existence of OP things effectively limits player options, but just because player A doesn’t like option 1 does not mean player B should not be allowed to use it, and in most cases the math literally proves a lot of these options are bad, but they should still exist
@CptChrispy Idk what u mean by bad game design. It isn't like Smogon owns Pokemon or anything. People who don't like their rules aren't being forced to play them. Even then, if they ever decided to not ban something after conducting a vote in which a majority of the playerbase voted on said thing to get banned, that would be insane. The voices of the people who voted ban are just as valid as those who voted no ban, like I said it might suck for some and disagreeing with some decisions is fine, but that's how Smogon works and u don't have to play it if u don't want to
