  • This beautiful piece of music from Francisco Tarrega, Memories of the Alhambra is played here by Canadian, Manfred Harter, whom I have had the pleasure to meet and who has played many wonderful arrangements for me. I knew nothing of the Alhambra, but as was the case with a previous piece of Manfreds music, Mystery of Tikal, I wanted to know what it was that inspired him to choose this piece.
The Alhambra is a palace and fortress complex in southern Spain. It sits on a hilly terrace on the southeastern border of the city of Granada. Once the residence of the Muslim kings of Granada and their court, it was designed to reflect the very beauty of Paradise itself, with its gardens, fountains, streams, palace, and a mosque, all inside a fortress wall. It is now one of Spain's major tourist attractions.

Memories of the Alhambra, the master piece of Music from Francisco Tarrega.
Alhambra was build by Muslims from Andalusia-[Islamic Spain]
Their idea was to built a castle who will look like piece of Jennet -Arabic word for paradise
Andalusia was most developed European country for almost 7 centuries .Music is full of sorrow and sadness.
Manfred Harter is great guitarist, but king was only one Andres Segovia.

Hi My Lady...... Thank you for keeping me alive, still. Most kind and thoughtful. Just wanted you to know I have escaped from my pen and gone and done some strange things. Have decided to write a "Canadian" song and a tribute to Holly and Buddy Knox, as I met him before he passed.... Change Over Me, and 2 Holly songs....aven though I am not a real singer, sigh....and the beats go on. Arigato!

Yes - you're accurately right! Another great version is the one with Pablo Sáinz-Villegas who plays it in the same tempo but with a bit softer accents - profoundly beautiful music ❤

This piece is from the 19th century, long after the Inquisition. If you want to listen to something more Inquisition-y, you'd should look up Spanish Renaissance music

Not how it is supposed to be played. Awful slide from the A chord and the guitarist shies away from the demi-semi quavers which takes away the true essence of the masterpiece.
