Those candid photos are in fact the real photos and a true representation of the wedding than the once they posed. Posed photos are more for magazines to help with the sell of a product while candid photos at a wedding shows the real atmosphere at a wedding and to me are the best.
THANK YOU for this series. The videos are clear, camera info is great, and it’s a fast paced mix of stills and real life experience. It’s also very reassuring to see the use of prime lenses, especially with your group shots. I use them too, and was beginning to wonder if I was really not up to speed, not having the 70-200. I realize it has its place, especially in the ceremony, but I am working with what I can right now and I truly love my 50 mm and what it gives me.
A lot of the times a second shooter is so hard to get we would rather work solo I had to fire mine after 5 years because of becoming undependable and I never knew from one wedding to the next if he was going to show up as promised. I got tired of the headaches and work solo and love it.
Some really great tips/ideas. I would use them should I ever be crazy enough to photograph a wedding (i.e. I would NEVER want to try and satisfy the mother-in-law let alone the bride)! :0)
Good work hard working wedding photographers . but I can tell speakers is from RUclips era higher aperture and lower aperture vocabulary goodness what happened to wider depth of field and shallow depth of field opening up

Vanessa, do you do a FEC when shooting the brides and grooms due to the whiteness and darkness of their attire?
Nice tips. Thanks! Is that Brenthaven shooter bag on your waist?
We've booked a Photographer who is a solo worker but I really am like the idea of a second person for them more casual/natural shots

Great tips, I did notice in that the groom himself in the first 2 pics tie was all off center
It was eventually fixed! :)

85mm @ F5 from 20ft. = 5.5ft. DOF
But At 16ft. the DOF is just 3ft. This is not an adequate DOF.
