A piece composed around 1150, We're a bit under 120 years away from this piece being 1,000 years old. It is amazing to me that we have a piece of music that old still being performed today. I cannot express enough gratitude to those who keep this tradition alive.
My friend, Chris Blasdel performs on this instrument. He carries on the tradition of Kinko Master Yamaguchi Goro to the world at large. As well as other pieces to keep the tradition alive. I know he and Riley are friends. Would be a total gas to see them in concert together.
so talented so fantastic.. the music is very. calming to my soul
Full of soul. A healing sound.
Like the way he is breathing like a grand master.
My favorite instrument.
Caldo e profondo suono evocativo.❤
Deep heartful flute.
Looks like reaching to heart directly.
Very meditative music! Played perfectly!
Lovely!!!
Love it . Beautiful sound . Beautiful spirit ❤️
Beautiful!!
I Love Riley Lee. Oriental Sunrise (Sona Gaia1984)
why are so many instruments just a different flute
Edit: oh ok I found out, the flute is the first instrument
First instrument was the human voice
There are 3 categories of instruments as ive found out: flute, lute, and brute.
flute=wind instrument
lute=string instrument
brute=percussion
@@hannahy.1129 Brute? That just sounds like an unpitched wind instrument! Lol!
@@thomasharris1090 I mean you right though
There's also a certain one called Mute, veeeery tricky to master.
this makes me want to become a monk, i am enlightened
Yes Sir! It's called music. I've listened other shakuhachi players but they sound so dull. This one is quite different.
This guy's reallly good but in all fairness a lot has to do with the microphone and sound processing. Those things are done really well in this so it's like you're hearing it in person.
I honestly have not found one dull shakuhachi player. I think they all sound beautiful one way or another. It is a beautiful instrument and one must master it to play it. This is not to listen the beauty of the player in this video. Many blessings. 🍀🖖❤
SWEET
grandmasterrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
Wow
I think the legend flute is Yasuharu takanashi haha the composer of Naruto's soundtrack
👏🍀😊🙏
What is the key of this shakuhachi? 🙂
Is that mic a Shure SM57?
Yep!
It Shure is 👀

Sōen Nakagawa 中川 宋淵,
Looks like a hard instrument to play no reed or anything just an angle cut.
Sounds familiar to a Gregorian Chant.
Can’t get over him gasping for air
You would too on his age and the Shakuhachi is difficult to play compared to modern flutes due to it basically being a piece of cut bamboo with tiny holes. This is also probably one of the oldest eastern made instruments originating from the Edo period.
You ever play a wind instrument bud? 😂
in shakuhachi music taking breaths is not an issue. Also, he is playing an abnormally long flute which takes lots of breath
sounds relaxing for me
Breath is life
Andre 3000 brought me here
😂 Hey glad you accepted his love sound. Many did not.
