Beautiful couple and boat. I usually do not install check valves in a vertical position. If you do make sure the flow is from the bottom towards the top in order for the internal flap to close and prevent back flow.
Someone is very good at picking music for the different locations and are proving to be rather playful with it. This exhaust system and its routing is complex but has proven to be fun....for us viewers. Thank you both!!

This is wonderful watching this Labour of love and it just makes me happy. I look forward to all your videos. It reminds me how helpful my wife and partner was for me always there for the hard work and never complaining.
Duca, great idea installing the check valve in the line. However, please be careful that that kind of swing check valve needs to be installed horizontally to work properly. If it is mounted vertically with the flap on top, the flap may be too heavy to be pushed up and let the fluid out. Instead if the flap is on the lower side it remains open by its own weight and it does not prevent backflow. A swing check mus be always installed horizontally, and usually it is not bubble-tight because residue tend to build between the swinging flap and the metal where it seats when closed. A spring loaded check valve with a ptfe or nbr seat, possibly in stainless steel would be bubble tight, low opening pressure and could be mounted vertically without issues.
Roberta, you are without a doubt the best 2nd Mate on the planet. What a complete job you guys did. As good as, if not better than when the boat was built, for sure. Have a blessed week, stay safe and c ya next Monday. Ciao, George & Debby

I must be crazy! I am sitting in central Texas, never have sailed, rarely get to the water, but I love watching these two. They work together and seem so sweet. Wish I could meet them. I’ll just sit here watching them put in exhaust pipes and I love it! Crazy!
I was sitting here watching in pain wondering if I could get a message through that you need a Fein oscillating tool but you know the patent expired and Milwaukee makes good tools too. Incredibly happy for you. So many times you could have used it instead of making larger cut. HAPPY DAYS! Roberta you are a wonderful genius for getting him such a great gift.

It was my go to tool for small precise cutting, and sanding. As you’ve already discovered, it’s very versatile. I so excited that you two are living the life you love, and that you’re not afraid to work for it. Have fun!
Great job as always. A little trick I learned from an aircraft mechanic: when lashing two wires/hoses together, use two zip ties. One around each hose and interlink the zip ties. That way any movement is against the zip ties and they wear out rather than the hose/wire. Where the smaller exhaust hose crosses itself (near the thru hole) might be a place to do this.
Looks like you have a 3 inch exhaust tube connected to a Y fitting with a 1 inch tube going to a thru hull. You should install a seacock on that thru hull as well as a vent loop fitting on the hose. Otherwise exhaust could siphon raw water from the 1 inch tube and if the tube failed, without a seacock you would have no way to block the thru hull.
Duca kept calling it the "exhausting system." In North America, we tend to call these the "exhaust system," but in this case, Duca's term is more accurate. Truly exhausting installation.

Thank you for these videos. They remind me of my grandfather. He passed away in 1991 before he could ride on the boat him and my father were repairing. These videos are like a chance to reconnect with him.
Definitely my favorite You Tube channel! Why? Because you two have an infectious personality that exudes positive vibes that really connects with the audience. Your content is engaging and I can totally put myself right in your position and imagine the challenges, solutions and obstacles. And finally, you do not use sex to sell your videos. Roberta is so refreshingly beautiful in her demeanor and smile, and her modesty in her dress simply makes her more beautiful inside and out. Please do not change that. Everyone else has thumbnails that are boobs, or thong bikinis and it just cheapens the entire video. Keep up the good work both of you. I have learned so much from your channel about what it takes to restore a boat.
As a female sailor who follows many sailing channels on RUclips & Instagram, thank you Scott, your comment is so refreshing and what I think too. Well said. I’ve stopped following/watching some channels as they only put a thumbnail of their scantily clad female, etc. Elaine 👏😊
Just love your videos! Your editing and music is supurb! Odd is going to last forever in no small part to your attention to detail! Love how you work (no shortcuts, do it right, think things thru before doing, etc). You both are quite the team!👌👍👏⛵🌏
I just adore the 2 of you!! Both just good kind ppl!!! I really just admire how hard you both have worked to get this boat up to snuff. I haven't gotten a boat yet an at 53 who knows what the future holds for us... Both of you an all your friends really do inspire me to keep my dream. ✌🏻💗😊❣️
Another thought...I have seen a couple other sailing channels where boats were struck by lightning...frying all electronics...etc....where you may be mild conditions...but destinations? Florida is the lightning Capital of the USA. Will you...on a metal boat...be installing lighting arresters and surge protection for the electrical systems?
You know what's really nice? It's seeing how well you two work together and how much you both enjoy it. 💛🙂 Edit: A Multi-tool! And in my opinion the best one you can buy is from Milwaukee. I use it all the time for restoring the woodwork on vintage campers. You can make so many shallow precision cuts that other saws cannot make. And it's a sander too! The perfect gift! 🙂😉
You are now experts in sail boat restoration! Marvelous 3 years watching you two and explaining everything that you have done! I have never seen a husband and wife so compatible as you two!
One can take a paper cup, fill with water, and sit it on red hot coals in a fire. The cup will only burn down to the level of water. Never worry about fire when something is filled with water. Have a great week, and thanks for sharing another wonderful episode.
When I am working on wiring, I switched from zipties to industrial velcro. This allows for me to loosen, undo, redo, far more serviceable. Keep up the great team work.
I have to say that I love the way Duca engineers everything so meticulously. I also have to say that that Hass to be the most complicated sailboat exhaust system I have ever seen in my 60 years on the water. I hope you guys have a couple of good carbon monoxide detectors in the cabin! Everything is looking great keep up the good work :-) PSRoberta, you are adorable as always

Rubber between components that touch or could potentially touch is essential for the long term health of components and reduces those hard to find squeaks that happen as your laying in the birth wanting desperately to fall asleep. Awesome job and well done!
Don’t listen to life advice from the comments. I love these guys but if they have children I will have to stop watching them for about 3 years. Children are a blessing to the parents but not a RUclips audience.
Great job as always ! 👍 BTW, you will LOVE that new tool. I bought mine 2 years ago after a friend lent me his for a little job like you did. I was in awe ! How could I live my earlier 63 years without it !? 🙄 The man who invented this is a genious ! 😊
Our CO detector triggered a couple minutes after we hard a hard grounding in Tofino two years ago. An exhaust flange had flexed and its very small leak was enough to set off the alarm. Our detector screams, "Beep, Beep, Beep, Beep, Carbon Monoxide, Monoxyde de Carbone!" It keeps repeating the alarm until acknowledged. Worth its weight in gold.
Love to hear the excellent blues tunes while watching you guys work. Happy to hear you chose to re-route the bilge pump to the aft shower outlet thru-pipe. It is better to be safe with dangerous gasses. I look forward to watching next week and great job!

Yes you right. In February 2007. Roberta was BEAUTIFUL 😍 & still beautiful now.
..good job, you are gettin' there, fine tuning is always tedious work, stay safe...
Elaine 👏😊
Yes, yes, yes and yes. Love!
Scott, I agree, personally i stay away from channels that use sex as a lure to get you to watch, Sailing Magic Carpet is another fantastic channel
Just love your videos! Your editing and music is supurb!
Odd is going to last forever in no small part to your attention to detail! Love how you work (no shortcuts, do it right, think things thru before doing, etc). You both are quite the team!👌👍👏⛵🌏
💕 thanks for the support, Robert.
Always i wrote the word "Finally" i listen Roberta saying Finallyyyyyyyyy in my mind haha
😁😂😂
I love the egalitarian relationship on these videos. Both are so respectful and supportive of each other it is beautiful to watch.
☺️👩🏼🤝👨🏻
To the commentary of Joe Weeks
There married with Sikaflex, that connets forever.
Regards from Germany
Yeahiii finally a Multi-Tool!!!! Apart from that... it was a pleasure to watch you guys. As always. You are just awesome.
Hope you have a backup autopilot. It's really important on a long passage particularly with only two of you onboard.
We are gonna have a wind vane as well 😁
Something tells me that they have a B&H ram being installed soon to replace the old one...
Duka Sikaflex King!!
Roberta Sikaflex Queen!
Milwaukee tools are pretty good i love them
😁
Zip ties are a blessing from God !
Haha.
Only a few hours ago I was using zip ties and said to my wife just how useful they are. I wish I had invented them.
Just make sure to only apply them where you have access to cut them off.
What did we do before them , oh , thats right wire , number 8 .fencing wire.,!...kiwi necessity .and yea whish i had too.
You can both be proud of your work. Well done.👍😉
Thank you! 😃
It's time to put your boat in the water and share your adventures with us.
I'm with you on that but It still needs an engine. Cant wait for their first adventure.
There will be just one more job 1st.....
Lets check in 3 month or so if they still want to cruise..
Your impatience is not their priority.
Simply love the background music you select.
Glad to hear that 💕
You know what's really nice? It's seeing how well you two work together and how much you both enjoy it. 💛🙂
Edit: A Multi-tool! And in my opinion the best one you can buy is from Milwaukee. I use it all the time for restoring the woodwork on vintage campers. You can make so many shallow precision cuts that other saws cannot make. And it's a sander too! The perfect gift! 🙂😉
☺️💕
Love your choice in music throughout the video..wonderfully entertaining!
Glad you enjoyed it!
You two have done such a good job with the boat 👍. It is going to last a lifetime. Can't wait to see it at sea ⛵.
It was for a fart moment and they changed the motor
You are now experts in sail boat restoration! Marvelous 3 years watching you two and explaining everything that you have done! I have never seen a husband and wife so compatible as you two!
Thanks so much for your longggggg time support. It’s great to know that someone that came for the container is still here ☺️
You need to create a amazon wish list so some of your viewers may purchase items on the wish list for you :)
Great idea!!!
They don't sell brains!
@STEVEN R Smart ass remark. Go find something to do in your life.
One can take a paper cup, fill with water, and sit it on red hot coals in a fire. The cup will only burn down to the level of water. Never worry about fire when something is filled with water. Have a great week, and thanks for sharing another wonderful episode.
Thanks for the explanation. Glad you enjoyed the video
When I am working on wiring, I switched from zipties to industrial velcro. This allows for me to loosen, undo, redo, far more serviceable. Keep up the great team work.
Thanks for the suggestion
The amount of work this is taking, you would have been better off opening up the through hull.
When is little duca coming ? Lol
They have talked about this is previous episodes.
There's a technical issue, was discussed on one of the Q&A some time back
Awesome work Guys all the little things are coming together Great Job Cleanest Engine Room Ever
Thanks 😊 😎
Duca: "I would like to buy a soldering iron."
Hardware Store: "We don't have any."
Duca: "None?"
HWS: "Well, we have a soldering tomahawk."
Duca: ...
HWS: "It's got a yellow handle."
Duca: "I'll take it!"
What brand is that great soldering iron? I’ve tried 3 and I don’t know, maybe it’s me! Lol
Yep....yepppp. best tool ever in invented for so many reasons .nice workmanship on the xhaust .still would liked to have seen a decent size though hole fitted, instead of splitting it up .You two are becoming quiet the craftsman/ woman.Roberta you never iss a thing ,, Impressed. Well done.
Thanks 👍
Duca, you are supposed to make a boat ready, not an army tank..... ok... 😂😂😂
😅😅💪🏼
Army tank ha it's more like a nuclear submarine 👏👏👏👏
Rubber between components that touch or could potentially touch is essential for the long term health of components and reduces those hard to find squeaks that happen as your laying in the birth wanting desperately to fall asleep. Awesome job and well done!
😁
I can't wait to see you guys get married ! Lol
and have children, that a blessing
Now that would be amazing and wonderful video
@@jimhardesty2012 children = bigger boat
Why? If it anit broke dont try to fix it. ;)
looking at all those connections makes me think you need a CO detector.
Always a good idea when burning fossil fuels of any kind. 😁
It's a wet exhaust, so they need a water detector ;) they already have.
Love to hear the excellent blues tunes while watching you guys work. Happy to hear you chose to re-route the bilge pump to the aft shower outlet thru-pipe. It is better to be safe with dangerous gasses. I look forward to watching next week and great job!
Glad to hear that you enjoyed the music and the video 😊
Great job guys! I look forward to your videos every week. I can’t wait to see your new engine installation.
Thanks. Glad to hear you enjoy watching our videos ☺️ have a great week
Can't wait until all this hardwork pays off for the both of you!!!
There are many other people out there doing similar boat restorations, but none compare to you two. Your attention to detail with both ODD and video production is a pleasure to watch every week. Thank you!
Thanks a lot, Thom
Love watching the two of you work through a project.
