      Dark days? Why didn't you Doctors tell us all you cured the Seasonal Flu and pneumonia in 2020? Seems a big story how we went from 1.5m deaths to 20 in one year. The dark days are coming when we have to repay that nonsense. Covid exposed the "experts" as nothing but putrid Politicians. From Doctor's to the dog catcher.

    Beautiful couple and boat. I usually do not install check valves in a vertical position. If you do make sure the flow is from the bottom towards the top in order for the internal flap to close and prevent back flow.

    When I watch each episode, I walk away with a smile that I keep for days! Your openness, kindness and always the way you treat each other is so remarkable for these days!

    Hi Duca, It is better to install a temperature alarm on the exhaust this tells you right away if the exhaust temp rises . This means in case of a inlet blockage this saves your impeller and the first part of your exhaust hose. You spent a lard of money and this will save you a lard of trouble. It is not so expensive. I love your engine room and you made the best choice of choosing the engine brand. I was 36 years a Yanmar dealer and this engine will not let you down. Succes with the upcoming work.

  • @albertomalaguti6001
    @albertomalaguti6001 3 года назад +1

    Duca, great idea installing the check valve in the line. However, please be careful that that kind of swing check valve needs to be installed horizontally to work properly. If it is mounted vertically with the flap on top, the flap may be too heavy to be pushed up and let the fluid out. Instead if the flap is on the lower side it remains open by its own weight and it does not prevent backflow. A swing check mus be always installed horizontally, and usually it is not bubble-tight because residue tend to build between the swinging flap and the metal where it seats when closed. A spring loaded check valve with a ptfe or nbr seat, possibly in stainless steel would be bubble tight, low opening pressure and could be mounted vertically without issues.

    Great job as always. A little trick I learned from an aircraft mechanic: when lashing two wires/hoses together, use two zip ties. One around each hose and interlink the zip ties. That way any movement is against the zip ties and they wear out rather than the hose/wire. Where the smaller exhaust hose crosses itself (near the thru hole) might be a place to do this.

    You know what's really nice? It's seeing how well you two work together and how much you both enjoy it. 💛🙂
    Edit: A Multi-tool! And in my opinion the best one you can buy is from Milwaukee. I use it all the time for restoring the woodwork on vintage campers. You can make so many shallow precision cuts that other saws cannot make. And it's a sander too! The perfect gift! 🙂😉

    Definitely my favorite You Tube channel! Why? Because you two have an infectious personality that exudes positive vibes that really connects with the audience. Your content is engaging and I can totally put myself right in your position and imagine the challenges, solutions and obstacles. And finally, you do not use sex to sell your videos. Roberta is so refreshingly beautiful in her demeanor and smile, and her modesty in her dress simply makes her more beautiful inside and out. Please do not change that. Everyone else has thumbnails that are boobs, or thong bikinis and it just cheapens the entire video. Keep up the good work both of you. I have learned so much from your channel about what it takes to restore a boat.

    Another thought...I have seen a couple other sailing channels where boats were struck by lightning...frying all electronics...etc....where you may be mild conditions...but destinations? Florida is the lightning Capital of the USA. Will you...on a metal boat...be installing lighting arresters and surge protection for the electrical systems?

      Our CO detector triggered a couple minutes after we hard a hard grounding in Tofino two years ago. An exhaust flange had flexed and its very small leak was enough to set off the alarm. Our detector screams, "Beep, Beep, Beep, Beep, Carbon Monoxide, Monoxyde de Carbone!" It keeps repeating the alarm until acknowledged. Worth its weight in gold.

    I like your attitude that, if better is possible, good enough is not good enough. On that loop for the salt water outlet from the exhaist, you may want to fit a syphon breaker at the top - a one way valve that will allow air in when there is no presure, but close when there is pressure in the su=ystem.

    • @OddLifeCrafting
      @OddLifeCrafting  3 года назад

      The problem is the rubber valve. We were afraid it wouldn’t support warm water. And will have one on the cooling hose before the engine so it will protect from water coming back. 😊👌🏼
