Hitting a 500-foot NUKE with an illegal reissued Easton Korea “Z2K”

  • Today we're swinging a couple bats that were released in 2020, but we never knew they existed...
A couple years ago, Easton KOREA released a commemorative 20th anniversary version of the legendary Easton Z2K and REDLINE bat from 1999/2000. And just like the originals...these bats are completely unrestricted in terms of their performance (unlike BBCOR/BESR/USSSA/USA).
If you want to buy these...good luck because everything is in Korean lol
Scotty P has an eBay page where he sells a bunch of bats like this: www.ebay.com/usr/scottprice41...
    Easton Korea website: easton-korea.com/Product/all/b...
    Z2K Product Page: smartstore.naver.com/theplaye...
    Redline Product Page: smartstore.naver.com/theplaye...
You can find our BBCOR & USSSA bat rankings along with our merch at baseballbatbros.com/

This video is a great example of how much "conditions" affect hitting distance.
In our last video (Hitting with the Louisiana Ragin Cajuns), we were hitting at 40-foot elevation, with 75% humidity, with BBCORs and beat-up BP baseballs.
Today's we're in Utah at 4,800 elevation, with dry air, unrestricted bats, and MLB baseballs.
Result = an extra 125 feet of distance!!!

Love the Bat Bros cut of this. Extra footage is awesome, dunno if you need to incorporate the shot tracking too. The sound of those Redlines and Z cores takes me right back to high school. From memory the difference was that the Z core had a carbon kevlar insert, but the redline had a straight carbon insert in the barrel. And the new bats dont look to be made with the scandium 500 alloy which was the ultimate. Thanks for putting up the links to buy the bats. I might be able to get one shipped to Australia if all you US guys cant get them! Thanks again for the awesome content Will and team. Thanks for all the videos! I was a fairly good hitting first baseman in my youth but never had hitting instruction. Of course, the first things I learned were to keep my eye on the ball, not swing too hard, and keep my swing level to the flight of the ball. All sounds good but hard to practice in the moment. However, if you will permit, I would recommend to beginners who haven't developed strong upper-body strength that all gestures with the bat be kept to a minimum - such as tilting or waving the bat just prior to contacting the ball. That detracts from the coordination needed to make proper contact with the ball. Thanks!

I'm working on it will lol I'm gonna make the greatest bat ever made
Now from what i know, the bats from the Korean reissue are not a carbon copy of the originals simply because of the alloys available. Back then, they used a scandium doped alloy called sc500, which they did not have access to on the reissue, but they compensated by using a different alloy with very similar properties. The gains they made on this bat are definitely on the composite side of things for the reinforcement.
1 caveat on the home run derby bats idea
When it comes to making illegal home run derby only bats, you don't need to sell a bat that's inherently illegal. This restricts the bat makers market and can put them in hot water with litigation, as Louisville Slugger learned from a 2002 lawsuit in their Air Attack 2, a bat i have studied extensively.
What you can do is simply buy a sanctioned bat and have it doctored (shave and rolling). This gives you performance on the level of an illegal bat without restricting the bat makers profit margins. It's likely why there are not any bat manufacturers producing bats that push past regulations
Also one thing to note, even though the z2k doesn't say it, it actually was a regulated bat. In fact, it's the same regulation as USSSA uses today and was the origin of the regulation, it's just that the regulations back then were a total mess and nobody really listened. More on that later. We can talk one time about how the late 90s was probably the most drama in baseball bat history

I love watching these videos. I’m all about statcast and exit velocity and I was a monster home run hitter back in the early 1990s and I never got a chance to measure out my longest home run but I’ve hit softballs out of Triple A Yankees rail riders stadium and U-trip tournaments hitting balls almost 500’. As for baseball I swung a 53/32 Easton Black Magic and my farthest home run was about 400’ with the black magic and I swung the 34.5/29.5 Easton Ultra light when facing pitchers that could throw high 80s to low 90s. Playing American Legion ball a friend bought a EASTON CCORE 34/30 in which I hit my furthest home run by 50 - 75 feet. 450 conservatively 475 max in NJ.
When I hit I didn’t feel anything. It had felt like anything and I had no clue if I got good but we played at a field that was 330 down the lines 405 in center. The field was about 375 to left center had trees behind it 50 feet tall and 40’ beyond the fence and after hitting that home run my teammates told me it didn’t touch a tree and it flew over the trees. I had reached the trees on a bounce before but never into the trees. This ball flew over the trees and using Google Earth I believe it was 450 if the ball was clipping the top of the trees. I was 6’-6” 240 lb 18 year old and the opposing coach had said in the newspaper that the ball flew well beyond 440 feet.
What you guys should do is invest in mark out flags so the kids mark the landing spot with a flag and use a measuring wheel. I couldn’t imagine if I had a USSSA Easton Stealth Comp or something similar. I had no clue back in the early 90s that the bat made that much of a difference. When I was a child I thought my new sneakers made me run faster and as I was a teenager I felt like the bat didn’t have much of an effect on how far I hit the ball. How wrong I was especially with Easton CCORE 34/30. I only swung it because i didn’t have my 34.5/29.5 ultralight with me and the kid I was facing was throwing gas and the 35/32 BM I was a tad late on the ball. The other thing that helped me was he threw a perfect 2-2 fastball that I didn’t swing at that I thought clipped the outside part of the plate and the Ump called it a ball and I remember thinking 3-2 count he’s going to throw me a fastball middle middle and i barreled it so perfect I had no idea that I just hit my furthest hr by a long shot. I took off out of the box like I may have hit a double. I think that CCORE had a trampoline effect and I was so used to feeling the ball of the black magic or the ultra light but it felt nothing like the BM or UL.
Love watching your videos and keep it up the great work and was wondering if you took the hottest bat ever made and gave it to a G. Stanton or Aaron Judge at Coors field how far would they be able to hit the ball? Trevor Story hit ball 520 in the hr derby at Coors field with an exit velo below 110 mph. Now a Stanton or Judge with a 30 degree launch angle with an exit velocity of 120 mph. How far would it travel. Judge hit a ball in Miami that statcast put at 513’ at sea level. I read somewhere Coors Field you add 10%. Would that same ball at Coors Field travel 564’? Just how far do you think the most powerful hitters on the planet could hit a ball with a drop 5 bat at Coors Field? Blaze Jordan hit a ball 500+’ when he was barely a teenager so would a Stanton or Judge just destroy the bat or would it travel another 100 to 150’ Could someone reach 600 to 700’ in high temperatures at Coors field? Joey Meyer hit one 582 with wood!
What is the farthest possible home run?

I had that c core. I’ll say this of all the bats I’ve had. It was really hard to find the sweet spot but the Air attack 2 from tpx hit the furthest. I graduated high school on 2001.

2002 here. Bro I used the redline . Every time I hit dropping bombs… so far I couldn’t believe it myself. Are they illegal now?

I had a C-core and an orange reflex. Loved them, but never knew they had legendary pop. Wish I had kept them to sell 🤣

I remember swinging that Redline in the spring of 1998, might be a year earlier that magic era.

I have (2) 34/29 OG Redlines sitting in my garage from 1999/2000. I'm shocked that we didn't take off an pitchers heads back in the day.

Pitched in college against guys swinging -5 redlines in 1997 before the rules changed. Saw some close calls and plenty of big bombs. Think there was at least one pitcher killed that year which was no surprise

Our 99' legion baseball team had a bat that I believe was identical to that redline bat and everyone used it and crushed that year.
