I cant wait to see how kubiak uses Taysom hill. I dont know that he affects the win total but a player as dynamic as him under a good OC can give other teams problems
15:20 I usually agree with your takes James, But if we look at it on a 1-10 scale penning is a 2/10 at best. Simply just another body. But if he is able to find his "Niche" and even become an average player or mediocre, then that effects Alvin Kamara, Miller, Williams. Jet sweeps and possibly pass rush. Which in his current evaluation from his last two years he made a lot of these not even possible...but if he becomes average, gets his footwork down and becomes that super aggressive player like in college he will help alllll of those things mentioned. Especially if we are going to be running 22 schemes and run the 2 te 2 rb.
My point is why invest so much time and effort AND risk moving your 1st round pick from RT to LT if all you want is Penning to play average. Go get a veteran OL free agent that you know will be average. Also, if all you need is average play from a position it can't be considered the most important player on the team going into a season.
Minus Carr, we really don't have another guy that can affect the win total do we? I guess if Young had TJ Watt numbers yea then if Olave had 1500+ yards maybe. We all know the main impact in a negative way for vegas line will always be DA
I look forward to seeing a better offense with Kubiak and Janoko but for me the defense gotta be on point *most* of the time. So Chase, Cam and Lattimore. I would love to see the defense close games out.⚜️
I think Cam Jordan is being underestimated. People wanna blame his age and think it's drop off because he's older, but he was playing injured (this is common knowledge and he's not playing in OTAs even though he's still appearing because he's recovering from injury). Just in 2022 he had 8.5 sacks. If he doesn't get injured I could see his production being closer to that than when he was injured this past 2023 season. And sometimes a well-timed sack can seal a game.
The question is a little bit ill-formed because it's too subjective. How do you define what a player's "ceiling" is? Everybody can reasonably have a slightly different definition. A player's ceiling is probably the best year he's had in his career, and maybe bump that up a little bit with the assumption that wasn't his peak. This would not be applicable to older players who are clearly past their prime. (But having said that, the rapist did have a phenomenal year in 2009, at the age of 34.) For rookies, you kind of have to base it on where he was drafted. Carr is the clear answer, I think, because he's the quarterback and also because his best year saw him in the MVP conversation, 3rd in voting, and his team went 12-3 in his 15 starts. I'm guessing he had a rest week getting ready for the playoffs. He had 7 game winning drives that year. He's older, but we've seen QB's in this same age range (mid to late 30's) have MVP type seasons many times before. This is not a prediction. I expect him to be more or less average, and nowhere close to being in the MVP conversation, but that's not the question. The question is which player is most impactful to the win total if he reaches his ceiling. With Carr, we also to consider what it will take for him to reach that ceiling. It implies the offensive line is getting the job done. It implies his receivers, running backs, and tight ends are getting the job done, too. It also implies the Klint Kubiak experiment has been successful. If Chase Young has a breakout year and gets 15 to 20 sacks it just means Chase Young is way better than I thought he was. I see his ceiling as more in the 8 to 10 sack range.
A lockdown corner is very valuable and can add to win total. Why do you think they are paid so much?? You don’t win the same amount of games with or without a lockdown corner. He doesn’t need 15 pick to make a difference. Just lock down one side.
Disagree on the penning point. O Line is still the biggest question for the saints. If you have two 1st round caliber tackles I would feel way more confident in saying that the Saints WILL win some of the games you marked as toss ups. Do I think penning will reach that peak, no of course not, but if he does… (let’s say ovr like 80ish, which is his max max). If we put a lot of blame on bad coaching (for carr for example) I am willing to give penning one more year
My point with Penning is that when they say "if we can get him to just be average" Couldn't you remove the doubt and go get a veteran free agent that you know will play average and not risk moving Fuaga to a position he's not comfortable at?
@@JamesSkrmetta That’s fair, but w all the hopium I’m already inhaling it isn’t that much more to hope penning gets fixed by new offensive coaching staff
James your not the only one I heard talk about Kamara like he washed I think Kamara got alot left in the tank....... If he don't we about to find out with this new oc and new offense.....
@JamesSkrmetta I actually think Kamara gonna look good in this new offense but the only thing is the offensive line wat are they gonna look like........
How accurate has Vegas compared to pass win/loss records? Derek Carr is definitely number on this list. I understand we want to have high expectations and that we will win the South but we still have unproven offense and rookies that will be thrown to the wolves the first couple weeks of the season.
A healthy Marshon Lattimore playing at his highest level is 100% more impactful than any offensive lineman we have on our roster. A healthy Lattimore being able to lock down any number 1 WR is way more impactful then a decent Trevor penning season 🤣 As for our CB room Alontae is an average to below average corner at best, adebo is a very good corner I give you that. But We still have No idea how Kool aid will develop in the nfl. Bottom line is a healthy Lattimore and Adebo is the best CB duo in the league.

All the players are important in there roll of being successful!

If Kubiak utilizes Taysom to the peak of his powers that would be huge for the offense.
@@JamesSkrmetta did you see the NO.Football article about Kubiak flying to Utah just to talk to taysom about his role in the offense?
A single player impacting win or loss total in the NFL... with this new scheme I'd say Kendre Miller.

Derek Carr is definitely 💯 the most important player this season!
Big true
Let's get it.

Nah not really. You're on the money, Carr is the only one that could legit change the win total.
I look forward to seeing a better offense with Kubiak and Janoko but for me the defense gotta be on point *most* of the time. So Chase, Cam and Lattimore. I would love to see the defense close games out.⚜️
You forgot about breese? 😊
Saints ⚜ They will definitely shine this Season Let's Geaux

We believe in the players. We just don’t believe in the coach.
True
At this point i have no idea what Saldaveri looks like😂😂😂
lol SAME
Its carr whether people like it or not
This is true
No it's penning if penning can't block then carr is useless carr gonna do well in this system it's the offensive line period

I could see Cam having a big bounce back season
The most important players for the Saints are:
1. Derek Carr
2. Demario Davis
3. Alvin Kamara
A player that can add a game or two to the win total is a kicker. Blake Grupe or Charlie Smyth.
Vgp. What does our latest Aussie punter look like? Araisa level?

5 second hang time on several of Hayball’s punts

Chase Young is a good pick
Break out year for Penning. Offensive player of the year.
lol if Penning wins offensive player of the year, that would be the craziest thing to ever happen in human history

As far as a win-total, a lockdown corner wouldn't move the number.
Landon Young played well the end of the season at R Tackle

I'm a big Kamara supporter. We had a video a couple weeks ago (May 15th I think) defending him and comparing his output to CMC.
@JamesSkrmetta I actually think Kamara gonna look good in this new offense but the only thing is the offensive line wat are they gonna look like........
Before watching the video- Carr Kamara Young
If all 3 of them ball out we might win a playoff game
Or more
Great list
Unfortunately Alvin Kamara can't break tackles like Christian McCaffrey, that dude is a bull
Exactly, been saying it
Alvin had some of the worst numbers for yardage before contact, whose fault is that
Derek Carr unquestioned.
100%

Last year the Saints win total was 9.5 and we won 9. They are usually only a game or so off.
Trevor Penning
(dead serious)
So according to Nick it’s Carr!! If the line sucks again they lose again
I might be a pessimist but I don't have a good feeling about penning, feels like this is his last chance.
If he can't figure it out at RT, it'll be his last chance no doubt.
Miller will be RB1. 1100 yards
Not as long as AK41 is there

I believe that moves our win total at least 1 game.
I just wanna see koolaid play
He'll be a big part of the team moving forward
Kamara can easily duplicate what MCCaffrey does. They’ve been essentially used differently the entirety of their careers.
If they can match or be close to the 49ers rushing 2,400 yards 4.8ypc they win 11 games
