greetings thank you very much for your videos, I have both mixers from the gemini pmx series and in both I have the problem that it disconnects when I use dvs, I have solved it with rane's sl audio interface, I wonder if you had the same problems and if Did you find any solution besides the audio interface?
This is user traktor 3? Thanksare you using traktor 3 from this video? is there how to select, add tracks through the mixer? how to use a selection button? Thank you very much in advance
Wzup Clubhouse House, If you load the TSI for the PMX-10 tsi you will be able select/add tracks for deck 1 & 2 check out my PMX-10 review I have more details on how to load it. I would suggest using the "duplicate" function to work through mapping channels 3 & 4. Thanks for checking out the video.
Thanks for the thoughtful review. To anyone reading, any suggestions for used/older/pro units that might be better alternative? Primary requirement is 4ch integrated usb audio, like this gemini unit or for example the denon dnx1600.
@@XFaderz I'm actually not using any DVS, just playing back in ableton clips-mode, plus connecting hardware (groove box, keys, etc). It's more of a producer-doing-live setup than a DJ setup. So what I'd like is 4 channels that I can switch between digital interface or analog in. It looks like the dream unit would be A&H PX5, but that's a big purchase! Just to clarify, I don't need my mixer to have any ADCs, since I'm not reading timecode, just looking for 4xDAC!
@@bobblip Have you taken a look at the Rane 64/68 they are EOL as far as Serato and you may find deals on the used market, I believe they are similar and may suit your needs if the focus as a DAC but I'm not sure. The Mixars Quattro may also be an option as well. Let me know your thoughts. Thanks
@@XFaderz Thanks! I checked that unit and seems like people are having problems on windows10, too bad, otherwise it would be perfect. I decided to grab a couple numark all-in-one type units, with jogwheels that probably won't be very useful for me. They seem to have a number of discontinued products that have class compliant interfaces while providing mixing from analog sources. These seem to be available for under $100, so I'll settle with that for now. It looks like there is room in the pro-sumer market for analog mixer+interface units, so perhaps there will be more available in a couple years, perhaps even a used px5. Cheers, Colin
Did you mention those two rows of beautiful RGB lights on each side? I have one of these but I bought it without thr manul and I have no idea how to use them or how to light them up man. I only use the Mixer in standard mode with a pair of MDJ-900s and in an ideal world I would be able to "light them up" (I know they are for samples in theory) by I'd love to be able to switch them on man while Im gigging. Do you now how to do that Broth? BTW Brother: My first mixer was a Gemini PMX-15, back in 1993
Wzup Winston, thanks for checking out the video. I believe you will need a computer with some midi configurations (VDJ) setup to illuminate and or change colors of the hotcue pads. You may be able to reroute audio to bypass 1/2 (DVS support) to use those channels but if not, you will need to utilized channels 3/4 for your MDJ-900s and should not cause a problem. I vaguely remember that mixer, but it looks cool considering the crossfader access and the toggle switch, but I know with those features I have no doubt this one was popular. Thanks for sharing.
Wzup.. thanks for checking out the video yes they will still work. 'The built-in audio interface is set up as an 8 out interface (4 stereo outputs). Channel and Master peak metering is driven by the audio interface. If you are mapping the PMX-20 into your own software instead of Virtual DJ, it may be necessary to set your operational mode BEFORE opening your software of choice.' (Gemini Manual) In this mode, the audio mixing (Volume, Equalizer, Filter, etc) is performed by VirtualDJ and a different sound card (other than the built-in of the PMX20) can be used as well. The USB Audio interface of the PMX20 does not offer Timecode/DVS Inputs in Midi mode and up to 4 VirtualDJ Decks can be controlled from the PMX20. The external sources (connected to the CH Inputs at the rear panel) cannot be used in the Midi mode and the USB buttons will remain on. (VirtualDJ Manual) I hope this is helpful...Best of luck.
I had Gemini mixers before and almost most of them had some limitations on the TRIM so when I played some quet or old Vinyl I could not made it louder after 60% the rotary potentionmeter froze.. Do these sounds better.. Back in time I had a PS 626 in the 90's those were excellent in sounds after 2000 the qulity of the sound scaled back they did not make quality stuf like they did in the 90's.. I had the PT2000 turnatbals too..They were good.. But late after 2005 I did not like their new turntables..
Thank you for this review. I've just bought this unit nearly new on ebay for £180. Picked up some mdj 900 to go with for £300 for the pair so a massive saving on traditional larger name products. Can I contact you if I have any issues
Wzup Boudicca, congrats on the new gear. I no longer have this mixer but feel free to drop me a line in the comments and I will try to help as much as I can. Thanks for checking out the video and I hope you enjoy your new setup.
Great review. Especially in a time where there aren't many reviews of gear because they aren't the "big names" brands.

Hello I'm having a problem with my sampler in dvs mode when I click it doesn't switch to sampler mode it still be on hotcue mode how do I fix that?
Wzup Latrell, I would recommend checking the mapping config in settings to verify everything is set properly. Which DVS software are you using? Thanks

Can I use this mixer as a DVS device for my Technics SL-1200MK3DS with serato?
Wzup, tjflacid. Unfortunately you cannot use this mixer with Serato in DVS mode without a certified Serato soundcard.

Wzup DJ Mattia Pascal...The black TT is the Numark CDX and the silver ones are the Numark X2. Thanks for checking out the video.

Olá tudo bem? Estou procurando mapeamento para o Gemini PMX20 para Traktor Pro 3, eu uso toca discos. Poderia me ajudar?

Unfortunately gemini hasn't made good quality mixers since the UMX series back in 1999 it's been down hill ever since ✌️
