Thanks for having me as this week's Jam up Guy Wrestling Bios! It was a pleasure sharing my experience when meeting Bret Hart and I'm glad you and everyone else liked it!
I was at Mississippi comic con and I asked if he had ever hear from Wrestling bios raw vs nitro and he had no clue what I was talking about…I told him to catch it every Thursday and it’s the best wrestling content on RUclips !!
At the end of Survivor Series after the swerve, when The Rock's music came on and it said do you smell what The Rock is cooking, Jim Ross said and I quote, "Yeah and it stinks!" 😂
No matter what happened afterwards, Bam Bam's return to WCW is pretty awesome. He came in, guns blazing, and wanted the top dog of the yard. Simple, yet effective.
@@sillyrascal3382hat's a bit of a myth; Nitro was doing fine ratings wise. What REALLY starts the rapid downward spiral of WCW is when Jericho and the Radicals jump ship. Plus WWE was just unstoppable at this point.
@@jackcarraway4707 Jericho and a lot of the lower and mid card guys were so fun to watch. Wcw ran with Hogan and Piper for way too long. A lot of the big matches were trash. Cruiserweights carried wcw.
Not gonna watch until after work, but dropping by a little early to give the most hard working team behind the best series on RUclips their flowers. I know I'm speaking for a TON of people that I'll never meet by saying that we love this show and are really looking forward to reliving all the highs and lows and chinlocks of 1999 with you. Thanks for being one of the best parts of our week
One thing to note about Raw this week was also that they debuted a new opening to the show (the one that would be used up until the Across The Nation opening in 2002 to begin the Ruthless Aggression Era). It was by far the more popular Raw opening of the Attitude Era. It's going to be very entertaining to see these next few months play out for the storylines and how everything is setting up to bring us some of the most well known moments, angles, and gimmicks that I personally remember fondly (like what this Mark Henry thing eventually leads to. The Rock/Mankind feud that is remembered for that Royal Rumble match, and...THAT night. Can't believe we're nearing the moment that WB finally gets to cover the night of January 4th, 1999. Can't believe we're almost there already. Good to see that he's taking his break before getting into this stretch, because...DAMN!
Also, I can't speak for anyone else, but after watching the Biography special on Stone Cold this past weekend I appreciate Reliving the War so much more! It reminds me how BIG it was growing up during the attitude era!
One thing that always interests me, WCW gave us Hogan, Sting, Nash and Goldberg so much that we got sick of them. WWF/E gave us a lot of Austin, Rock, Taker, and Foley but yet we wanted more. Really shows how much you need some smart minds behind the curtains than big names in front.
Hogan was old sting was almost as old nash was in control and goldberg was a golden ticket for them Vince could've made his own goldberg especially with his love of big men but he never did
WCW had plenty of missed opportunities to stay on top. I learned that last episode Jericho and Goldberg could've happened, but the higher ups including Goldberg shot it down. What a match that would've been! Even if it was a squash match, which Jericho was okay to do.
It is an anomaly. I think it had more to do w the direction both companies took with their stars. A lot of the stuff WWF did felt fresh and relevant to the time. WCW kept rehashing the NWO storyline over and over with absolutely nothing different week in and week out. I personally believe it all boils down to the Starcade 97 main event. Sting's build to that match was perfect and we all knew how it should have ended. Of course, it didn't end that way and we all knew then that nothing would ever change. I still thinks WCW folds eventually because they just continued to hemorrhage money, but if that one spot goes the right way......I guess we'll never know
Wcw didn't give Hogan and Nash.. They were made by wwf.. People were tired of these two being in the main event.. Goldberg's character was one dimensional and Sting was held back by the poor booking.. On the other side, wwf produced main eventers every year in Attitude Era, Stone Cold and Rock in 98,Mankind and Triple H in 99,Kurt Angle and Rikishi in 00...
This is the episode I have been waiting for! I was in the group on Raw in the referee shirts in camera row, 38:02 I'm blocked from view by the official in ring referee. I was always a huge LOD/Road Warriors fan and ironic my first TV taping included the Titan tron fall of Hawk
2 weeks behind, but thank you for another round of Reliving The War! I met Steamboat and Jimmy Hart over the weekend. Also snapped a pic of Brutus Beefcake, aka Zodiac, aka The Disciple aka The Bootyman aka Brother Brewtye sitting alone looking sad because nobody came to his table. Jimmy Hart is a real jam up guy, he took the time to talk to us for 15 minutes.
I've been waiting for this episode to drop as I was at this week's RAW back on Nov 16, 1998. The crowd was super electric for everything going on in the ring. Funniest thing was I was seated where I could see Hawk climb up AND down the Titantron so I was taken immediately out of any concern for him. It was also awesome to see Steve MuFuggin Blackman team with Goldust. It was totally deflating to see Ken Shamrock join the corporation though. I remember using the Sable promo as a bathroom break (still do on rewatches cause she was about as appealing as moldy bread). But after RAW went off air Stone Cold basically stunned everyone to send the crowd home happy. Was an awesome experience and glad RAW won this week.
I hope you have a nice vacation. its well deserved. you are by far my favourite wrestling channel. i look forward to every video you upload. great guy!
I'm from Lexington, and as a kid, I always felt that all we ever got was house shows. I remember watching the ppv and the next night of Raw with all the Rock and Hawk stuff, but I can't believe that Raw was in Lexington, and I don't remember that. I can't believe I wasn't there.
I popped for Mills Lane, especially since he was still an ongoing character on Celebrity Death Match, during this time! 😂 Great form on Kidman's chinlock, btw. STILL the best series on RUclips!!!
Kidman had a pretty solid match against Tajiri at Backlash 02. Check it out if you haven't seen it. Much like Malenko, a lot of guys like he and BK never had the charisma to get themselves forward as bigger stars, despite the fact that they could wrestle their arse off.
@@calvinfolan1736I noticed the same with guys like Bobby Eaton and Brad Armstrong. Work horses, but they could never translate the charisma or had the charisma once the cameras were rolling (in Bobby's case, he had managers who did like Cornette and Heyman). Malenko had a dry sense of humor backstage, but was all business and stoic in the ring, so small wonder ECW kept him silent, and WCW gave him the Iceman name. Not a career to be ashamed of though, he held a lot of championship belts and he was a horseman.
The Raw After Survivor Series 1998 was awesome Rey Mysterio Jr vs Eddie guerrero on nitro was great these episodes of Reliving the War are amazing to watch every Thursday the Attitude Era was an awesome time period great video.
