Wrote a bucket list of things to do before I'm 70 next year but never thought to add learning to tie my shoe laces properly!
Namaste-out of trouble: the Buddha would smile. And I can now tie my shoelaces after 62 years! Thx Hazy.
Love your channels and content. Great simple tips too! I used to go on many a long walks and camps with my dad when I was just a young whippersnapper. We would always wear bread bags on our feet when it was raining. Still at 38 I follow my dads footsteps and the ingenious idea of bread bags lol. RIP dad.
The bread bags Are also a great idea for hiking in the snow
The shoe lace tip has revolutionised my boot wearing. 40 something years old and learning how to tie shoe laces properly off the internet.
The free umbrella bags at the entrance of most Walmart stores here make great water proof sock covers 👌 They are heavy-duty and almost go to your knee . Great for water crossing.
Great video Haze
my dad used to say " you learn something new every day" I am 74 and today Haze showed me how to tie my laces 👍👍😃
Thank you soooo much matey for NOT calling them "hacks"! 👍 😉
26 in 2 weeks and I’ve been doing the bunny ear method of tying my shoelaces since we were taught it in kindergarten. Thank you for teaching me how to tie my shoe laces like an adult. I only had to watch this 3 times to embed it into my memory bank lol.
im 30 and this is first time i am seeing a new technique lol
Bread bags is a cracking idea, I usually take flip flops but bread bags will take up a lot less room, nice one 🤙
Was looking for this lacing tip for ages ... Just found it again ... Very handy
Mind just blown over shoelaces. Thanks Haze. BOOM!
the Bread bags is an old school council estate hack for not having wellies, using ya loaf I suppose 🤣
Top tips, thank you! Flat shoelaces are also less likely to come undone, compared to round shoelaces 👍
Looking forward to you doing the Three Peaks soon, wearing your bread bags 😂
You sir are fast becoming a national treasure! - I'm off now to practice tying my bootlaces...........
I'm 55 years old and never even considered there were other ways to tie a lace! 😁 Cheers Sir Haze of Outdoors ❤
His Hazeness
👍 Totally agree with the tape. Got a burn in my new Ajungilak bag, 25 years ago, (someone’s hot rock??) and put a piece of tape to stop the fill evacuating and the hole getting any bigger...it’s still on it! Saved the bag! TOP!
That knot works even better, when you do a "square knot" on your shoelaces rather than a granny knot ;). I think after so many miles hiked you just wake up one day knowing it, because as soon as you spoke of tying laces, I was like "I already know a good way" :DDD. Great advice though :) Thanks for the vids Haze :D
Great tip on the knot and the walking stick tape! Thanks.
Bloody love the laces tip,. Thats so simple. Just brilliant
51 years old and I just learned how to tie my shoes properly. Thanks Hazey.
Haha Same!
Never seen tying laces so professionally done and made so interesting ,your a national treasure my son 👍👍👍😃
Thank you so much Haze for teaching me how to tie my shoelaces
Oh man, I’m liking that shoelace tip!! My trail running shoes, also Altra LP5s, get stuck with mud and I’ve got cold hands and I’ve double knotted them. Not anymore! Thank you Haze 🙂 Bread bags I remember those coming in very handy at a mountain marathon race mid camp, great top tip!
I never thought of doing my laces like that, thank you for that top tip. Also I am glad another person thinks like me leave no trace .... so everyone shut gates and take your crap home 👍
wow loving these tips hazey lad.... i shall try! nice one pal thank you and happy new year m8
Good tips. Practical experience.
Knowledge is knowing you need bread, wisdom. Is knowing to put the wrapping on wet feet.
That show lacing trick is great. Thanks.
I did the bread bags for C2C last year. So satisfying to put on wet shoes after!
I'm with The Wandering Forester! At 68 I have a new way to tie shoe laces and it works!! Isn't it great that we can learn something new everyday!!
Nice. On the tip n3, the half knot bit, also wrapping that twice will give it more grip too. ATB
And the Rabbit goes around the tree and down the hole 😂😂😂. Good tips mind
Ooh I will try laces tip, I’m always re- tie ing mine 😀👍🏻
I go twice over-the-top and twice through-the -loop. It’s what a French mountain guide tought me and she was right: it’s brilliant
I'm out in the lakes tried the laces tip wow it works cheers fella every day's a school day lol
Am I the only person who starts off a "standard" knot with the left hand loop? I've been doing it like that since Miss Tisdale taught me when I was in the Infants 65 years ago - I think I'd just graduated from Clarks sandals!
Looking at other websites everybody seems to do the right loop first but it just looks so ODD to me :o)
Loved the story that Olga Berluti learned of the knot from the Duke of Windsor who was taught it by his grandmother, Queen Alexandra, "to ensure he would never be embarrassed by trailing laces"
The laces tip just blew my mind. I always knot the loops exactly how you show, and yeah it's a pain in the A when I get home tired and covered in mud. I'll definitely try this out
Nice tips to remember Haze. Thanks and have a great week. Hope you had a great Holiday. Be well and stay safe.
Brilliant! All 3 tips noted Hazey, taaa v much
don't know what it is about your videos but whenever feeling down they come along and are a right nice little lift, cheers hazey!
Excited to try the lace hack xx
Used the lace tying tip today, great advice.... 👍
Thank you for sharing your video!
I like the bread bag idea
Excellent advice! Thank you.
Great shoelace tip, I'm in for that one! Thanks fella.
Wow I like that trick tying the laces...I'll have to try that because I'm always double knotting my laces!
FYI, I picked up a thru hiker that has completed the pct and the at. I asked about tape and he said to never wrap it around your trekking poles. After it’s in The sun for awhile, the tape starts to melt and in unusable. He said to wrap it so something and keep it inside your pack.
awesome tips thank you, that last one with the laces especially, absolute life changer!
Tape on your walking poles is a life saver at times. Top Tip! 👌
Great video. Thanks for sharing this great video.
A tip video that actually has useful and clever tips! Thank you! That tape one is genius.
I do the basic double knot but I like that other knot. Great tips!
Very nice video, thank you!
Wholesome just wholesome 👌 tips noted and appreciated
Must try the new shoe lace knot had to re tie my boots twice today out on the moors cheers my friend 🙏🙏👍👍
Top tips as always!
Never seen that knot before! Will definitely be trying it out next time I tie my laces :D
My hiking poles always have tape on them too, both duct tape and some of the medically type tape. Comes in useful a lot more than you'd think when you always have it ready.
Great tips...Will definitely try that shoelace trick....thanks
Best info I ever received the bread bags . Living in Oregon our trails are snow runoff until Aug . Dry feet
GTX stands for Gore-Tex. Virtually all outdoor shoes and boots are ‘Something GTX’.
Lots of people (I am part-time in an outdoor store) ask for a shoe or boot called ‘the GTX’….
When you start tying your shoes like that, you'll never go back :D I love this method and use it everyday. Not only for hiking!
Try the Berluti knot mate. Never had it come undone and doesn't knot up when you undo it.
Tip-tronic! Thanks Haze... 😃
Simple tips and a simple THANK YOU 👍
Hazey you bloomin star !
Fifty five years later, I find a new way to tie shoe laces.
My top tip is, don’t use bread bags as sick bags in the car , vent holes cause a few issues 🤢.
Bread bags shouldn’t have vent holes mate. Someone’s done you dirty
just love you haze
Vids like this are great I've been having problems with my new hanwag boot laces working lose tried double knots no joy will give this ago cheers
Another great one Haze!
great tips, i use freezer food bags, just big enough for my feet, and i wrap some tape around a pen, i love the shoelaces tip imma try that.... do you know about the 1,3,2 bootlace thing, to avoid tying at the top of the boot? go to first hoops then third hoops then back down to second hoops to tie them tight... it lets you puul heel back into boot and avoids them being tight around your lower calf, lets you move about better too.
I was only thinking the other day how much of an arse it is to double tie my laces. That's a new one on me, fanks.
Actually, that knot is a Great tip even if you don't hike at all; I can see it coming in handy with little ones, and old people. Take care, Blessed Be
we had a health and safety meeting about tying shoe laces at work
Wow thank you so much! Wish I'd have known the laces part last August. Sadly, the jetboil tipped scalding hot water over my trailrunners when we were multiday hiking. The pain was savage! Couldn't get them off quick enough. Gonna remember your tips for this year's Hadrian's wall thru hike in April 😊👍🏕
Nice one Hazy, I've learned something new today and will now use that method, atb Lee
That shoelaces hack was mint! Mind fried! Peace.
Ok the bread bags is a Pro tip! That is so useful! Only need now is to eat bread lol
Thank you
Simple good tips specially tying shoes:))
Mushroom tip..... Be very careful when foraging for mushrooms. There are some proper units out there that will not only make you very poorly but will log you off permanently. Game. Set. Match mate
Simple but effective tips for a beginner like myself 👍 cheers
Nice tips Mr Haze 👍🙏
Very informative man, I've only been in the "hiking community" for a year, if I may say so 😂and videos like this help a lot.
Another way to lock your laces is to just keep going around again after your first loop around the "bunny ear". It helps if you use two fingers instead of one to hold the ear loop to facilitate grabbing the lace to pull back through. Pulls out easily and you'll never have to retie again!
Hi, we used to use the bread bags on the milk round. Dry socks, bread bag, another pair of socks then boots. Toasty Warm :)
All taken on board . Cheers Hazey 🍻
Amazing stuff love the number 3 one cheers lado
tip 3 the best for me learn some thing new every day thanks
Like the lace tip 🔥
Nameste. Shoe lace was best tip. I never knew it. Blown me mind. I'll be doing it from now on. However I always put an extra twist/turn on the first part so it doesn't slip before making the loops and keeps the tension.
Hazy time every time 🤘🏻
Brilliant! My Salomons loosen off even when double knotted which is a mare when I've got gaiters on . I've even bought new laces for other boots to avoid this but I'll practice my homework all weekend now until I've mastered it. Cheers 👍 Katie
My salomon laces are a pain too... always coming undone.😡
Yip same here think they are over coated to prevent then rotting so no grip .l swapped them for cheap softer ones bingo
Interesting..I never knew the double lace technique..cheers for that lad...I even put my shoes on to test it out...nice one.
That lace one could be so good, just back from doing a munro where my lace came undone four times. Ill be remembering this tip next time
Brilliant thanks ... I'm off to try tying my laces 🤣!
Great gaffer tape tip mate👍
my missus just bought that flamingo table lamp from very catalogue today. crucial top tips keep the vids coming buddy :)
