Guillermo del Toro talking movies should be its own seperate late night show. His knowledge and analysis of cinema is spectacular, but what else could you expect from him? He's one of the best directors ever.
Yes. The final scene of Viggo's character reflecting in the restaurant makes you question what he really might be thinking. The battle there within himself. I saw this in theaters when I was 15 or 16 but I really couldn't appreciate it.
I’m 43 and I just watched it and I really don’t appreciate it. I like Cronenberg and Viggo but honestly the movie was just boring and the whole premise was just kind of goofy. Maybe I need to watch it again when I don’t have the flu.
Why can't we have the whole discussion ? I'm ready to pay for it. Why don't you create a renting on your website ? Where are these videos ? Are you for the cultural expansion of the world or its dissimulation ?
What's the point of Eastern Promises, though? It belongs to a group of Cronenberg films, with Spider, History of Violence, and Cosmopolis where I find myself really at a loss to feel much in the way of a sense of purpose.
Pretty good movie but the ending seemed really rushed and silly. For one, why would the mob boss send his weak, incompetent, and drunkard of a son to go murder a baby? Also, Viggo just magically goes from being set up by the mob to making Boss? I was completely lost by all of that and it more or less ruined the entire movie for me.
Understand that but with the previous mob boss having been arrested and with the support of the son, along with having just been promoted from driver to mob enforcer, there's also a lot in his favour for that conclusion to have been reached
It was absolutely rushed, to Cronenberg it was more important to show that the baby got adopted than to show the mob boss being arrested. And by the way, did the mob boss got completely disconnected from the world? Is Cronenberg a lazy director who leaves huge open plots? Damn lots of questions

Best directors ever? He's better at talking movies than making movies these days

Exactly. We want the videos! What good does it do to withhold them?
Best movie
Fantastic film, the only thing wrong, Russians would NEVER drink Stolichnaya vodka!

I think that's why I like them. More "slice of life" than "rise and fall"
