      @@Mikeymikemike exactly there’s a certain peacefulness or serenity to it but it also has jagged edges and aggressive angles.. it’s rlly nice

    Well done Mikey! Would you tell us a little more about of your system, like do you use natural sea water or which salt do you use? How often do you do water changes? You mentioned that this tank was set-up in January in a previous video. Were these Acros grown from frags? Also, interesting choice to use a yellow filter for the video, any particular reason you chose this color over brown or orange? Thanks! Looking forward to more videos and how you get your results!

    • @Mikeymikemike
      @Mikeymikemike  3 года назад +2

      I will do a video on those in the future but in short I prefer salts that are near natural sea water. I have been testing some different brands over the years and will show you which I prefer when I can comfortably say it has been consistent. Some acros were frags, some were colonies. Some have doubled in size. Others have not done anything other than encrust and colour up. I use a yellow lens because if I use orange it will look too warm/red.

    What would you find the most difficult in aquascaping a cube. The issue I find is picking a view. In my case it will 2 connected sides. Front and left are equally viewable

    • @Mikeymikemike
      @Mikeymikemike  3 года назад

      Cubes are hard to scape and it all depends on viewing angle. But I know there’s potential for some fantastic 360 scapes in a cubes. Maybe a 3ft cube is better suited to that. As for 2ft, perhaps just treat it like half of an aquarium

    Be curious to what your top Amd bottom par range is for all your sps. Seems spot on

    • @Mikeymikemike
      @Mikeymikemike  3 года назад

      500 at the top of the sps and 250-300 on the sand bed. It’s high due to reflection of the glass.

    Are any of these wild caught (coral) ?

    • @Mikeymikemike
      @Mikeymikemike  3 года назад

      Yes I live in Australia so that is the most common way to get corals, these are sustainably collected, some of them are aquacultured and maricultured too but the vast majority are wild.

    Hi Michael, your tank and method is a true inspiration for a mainly overcomplicated reefing hobby! Really refreshing! Thanks!!!
    Btw, how do you keep your alkalinity levels stable? I assume this is very important for the health of your SPS corals?
    Kind regards

    Hi Mike, nice reef tank.
    May i ask your aquarium dimensions and how do you deal with flow for those amazing SPS corals?

    • @Mikeymikemike
      @Mikeymikemike  3 года назад

      It’s 1200 x 450 x 450 - I use an mp40 act as a gyre. My aquascape and tank dimensions allow for this

    13:01 that is echinata, not speciosa.

    • @Mikeymikemike
      @Mikeymikemike  3 года назад

      what makes you say that? We had a discussion about this in the store whether or not it is a speciosa or echinata and the end result was that due to collection location and depth it was more likely speciosa, there are also thinner corallites but that could be due to flow. It would be cooler if it was echinata as that's what I've been asking for. I'll ask my friend who identifies and studies corals for a living but curious to know your thoughts as I hope you are right
