Music Box had the best vibrato, the most powerful belts, the best head voice, probably the most consistent quality on whistles and the best resonance of her career. Daydream stayed just with the ease on the upper belts, because the falsetto was shaky, the runs were a bit unmarked, she went flat several times and the breath management was a mess. Even Charm era had a more balanced technique than Daydream era, although the ease and the agility were not there as they were on DD. Also, no one talks about the tone of MB, people say it about Rainbow, because the only good thing Rainbow had amid all the mess of the era vocals was a texturized beautiful tone (but too nasal tho).
As much as i admire Mariahs current vocals and accept the flaws that come with it because of how fabulous everything else is, I really do wish her voice was still like this. Amazing. Simply Amazing.

It's the same technique Ariana Grande and many other lighter voices uses. But her voice on the last show of this VERY small "tour" was still connected, and fully bright. She still had access to her full bodied voice. But she chose to thin it out for a higher, brighter sound. Plus she's doing alot of breathy, airy and falsetto singing as well.. Vision of Love in 1998 sounds fuller than it does in 1996. That airy singing is what messed up her voice and other factors that we don't know about. But she still had access to her full bodied voice.
