  • This is our first video of the series ICU educational vlogs in which we want to explain and share the icu concepts and our experience in a more friendly and simple way so that learning can be more enjoyable. Thank you.
    In this first vlog we are discussing the practical aspects of massive transfusion protocol.

    It is wonderful lecture as usual.but giving lecture while driving is risky and we get anxious while watching it too.

      It was trial one to check whether we can do it outdoors … now won’t be in driving mode but can be outdoors

      yes, whatever we see and whatever we are discussing in ICU, I try to make it. for detailed lectures I need to prepare for 1-2 weeks

    Sir, how fast can you infuse PRBC in a patient who is actively bleeding ?
    Also in some practices, why is a diuretic given after blood transfusions?

    Citrate present in transfused blood is converted to bicarbonate by liver, hence bicarbs increase in blood....

      Very nice , but only If liver is healthy and functional , ; in trauma due to hypotension , there is Ischemic hepatitis and liver functions are de-ranged … and it may get converted to lactate .

    Sir If we anticipate that we are going to tx massive. Like we have already tx 3-4 prbc in 1-2 hrs. Then is it not better to tx whole blood after that first 1 -2 hrs of bolus tx ?
    May be because we need to avoid wbc s??

    As like this packed red cells:ffp:platelets concentrate 1:1:1 / 2:1:1 prevent dilutional coagulopathy in massive blood transfusion protocol can it prevent TACO and TRALI?

    Sir so if we need to tranfuse 4 units prbc for acute bleed than 4 unit prbc 4 units pt conc and 4 unit ffp?

      @@TheICUChannel sir example while doing 4:4:4 transfusion if 1 prbc takes 2-4 hrs that means that transfusion for the whole thing will take about a day..? And usually pt conc and ffp gets spoiled very fast so should we transfuse them first or can we make another channel…also should we store them..?please reply
