Regarding the issues you had in the first year: I have bough the 2021 version and can say that never had any issues. My chain deserves better treatment, but thats my own fault, haha
BMW had some issues with the early models. I remember placing a deposit on a G310R back then and there were delays after delays so I canceled it. Today I think those issues are no longer there so this is a true beginner bike that people should consider. You also have the Honda CB300R to look at also. Ride on, ride on, ride on. :)
Seconded. I bought the 2021 version and ao far, I have had no issues. I do a yearly roadtrip of over 1500km and I just keep the chain lubed and the gas tank and tires filled up.
Your version is the original version. The one with all the issues. They fixed it on the gen 2 (the full LED, slipper clutch version with the brown-ish gray engine case covers). Mine is 2 and a half years old and has no problems in a country that gets very cold and wet winters.
I like your videos mate. Already subscribed ! Keep it up .. I am with you.. your commentary while motovlogging is super unique.. Keep going bruh! - IGX VLOGS 🇧🇩
Nice video man! Just bought the 2022 version and waiting for my license and I hope all those issues have been fixed with the latest versions 🤞🏿 Your exhaust is maaaaaad! The kid at the end could tell 😂 I replaced the stock exhaust with the ARROW but havent heard yet, I will at my next riding course hope I get something 50% similar to this. If not, thanks to your video I now know the exact exhaust I want 😍
Hahahaha nice man. Yeah the exhaust is crazy loud. I always wore ear plugs with it. I’m pretty sure most of these issues have been fixed with the newer models.
@@Deadeyecorleone i never really looked into it, as it wasn't the biggest problem in the world. Just stopped doing those blips while stationary lol. Never happened while moving
Nice video, it is very helpful. I am planning to buy this bike, was wondering when you say you have to get your bike towed to dealer, are they paying for the towing service? Thx.
It wasn't covered by the dealership but it was covered by BMW. Since the bike was new I had 2 years of BMW Roadside Assistance where you get free support in the event of a breakdown of your brand new BMW.
In all fairness, it's an old model. Did you buy it when new? How it was treated before matters. But, having bought BMWs before (s1000rr), there will always be initial problems that, once resolved, give way to a very solid product. In 2024, they're doing a 5 year warranty. BMW do not have the greatest reliability record in comparison to Japanese manufacturers - but they have the highest longevity (their machines last the longest) and also repeat-customer rating of all manufacturers. Meaning - their customers buy a second or third, which is not the case for other manufacturers.
Ye brand new to me. It was a solid bike after all the initial problems were addressed but those were a lot of problems that soured the initial experience of the bike
Thanks for the video brother - I do have the same bike in Newzealand. I have not had any major issue since 2018 however couple of weeks back I had a problem with the bike where I could start the bike, but it went off in one minute or so. they inspected the bike and told me that there is an issue with Alternator, and they have ordered the alternator from Germany which will cost me around 2000$ Newzealand. As you said you had problem with starter, did you mean Alternator?
yeah i meant stator, that's what we call the alternator on bikes. cars have alternators and we have stators. I ended up getting it replaced under warranty and haven't had any troubles since. But all my problems happened within the first year.
Do you have a full system or a slip on exhaust ? I'm thinking of buying a exhaust for my 2018 bmwg310r. Any recommendations. Not too expensive just a student in Brisbane
I have a full system akrapovic on it. Not cheap but hella fun. Pops and burbles on the deceleration. I'm not aware of what the other exhaust options are on this bike but for me the full system definitely made me enjoy the bike more.
Hey man, I don't know if you would see this but I do have a question. I will get my licence in about a month and I am thinking to buy this bike. Is there any chance the problems that you had are fixed by new versions of this bike?
Hey man, I've just seen this - I reckon the newer updated versions will have these problems fixed. But just to be safe I'd look online to see what others are saying
@@thisismohito Hey, thanks for the reply. It’s kind of hard to find any information about this bike. It’s sad that this bike is not that popular to find much information about
@@enes6508Did you end up buying it? I’m in the same situation you were in 10 months ago. I’m getting my license in about two weeks and want to buy this bike. From what I’ve heard and read so far it’s not super reliable so it’s best to buy new or used under warranty. Any advice you could give me?
Hahahaha, to sum it up - I can't remember what I said word for word in the video, but basically I wouldn't buy this bike again if I could. However I do enjoy it, as it is my only motorbike, but there is no denying that this bike has had it's issues and I wouldn't recommend people to buy it. If it didn't have any issues that it came with, I would recommend it.
I just found this bike i was gonna go with a really nice looking cheaper Chinese 200cc bike it's very nice and clean and has a following in america it's 2,900 this bmw 300cc is like double that so idk but so far by visuals and it's features and such it sounds like a great bike. Is it really folks???? First off the brake light at the end of the tail light thats a no no why would bmw do that instead of putting it right after the seat like normal sport bikes. Also a dam exhaust for sure either full exhaust or a slip on.
you didn't explain at all why you don't recommend this bike to beginners, the fact that the bike breaks down has nothing to do with the friendliness of this bike. Thumbs down
🤣, "I didn't leave first gear, I went home in first gear", killed me.

Yeah there's a chance it might have been related to some of the production units from that year.
I just got my 2021 wish me luck

NICE! Glad to hear they fixed everything up 🫡
From What year is the new one ?
Love the video. Been working in China returning to Syd soon. Plan to get a 310GS. Driven that road to Manly many times. Brings back happy memories 😊😊

I purchased this bike a few months ago as my first bike. Sometimes it would just turn off while I rev in first gear
That used to happen to me if I gave it a short blip lol

still enjoy it every single day haha

alternator, not starter.
also, learn to clutch start a bike.

turn key to on position, put it in 2nd gear, get it rolling, then release clutch.
