The only times his fleet suffers high casualties when he go up against Yang. But then again so do many other Reinhard's admirals when facing against Yang. The be fair, Bittenfeld survives every single time and Yang can't really able to get rid of him either.
400 IQ tactics are often useless against a well placed, well timed devastating strike in your weakest point. Bittenfield had a purely intuitive mindset and was often right in sensing the right moment to strike . Yang himself admited it was the most difficult kind of opponent for him because all his plans involves thinking what your enemy would think: but nobody thinks like Bittenfield does.

Ironically, von Blucher would be decisive at Waterloo where Napoleon was finally defeated. Comedically, von Blucher was not famous for ingenious tactics or strategy but his never-ending energy, well-timed aggression, and stamina. A man who, though already quite old, never tired in campaigning against Napoleon.
He's like the troublesome annoying prick of your friend's group that always end up in troubles but gets away with it out of being good looking, lucky and his pure simple charisma,
Straight up one of the best characters in the whole damn series. Literally only Reinhard goes through as much development and growth as a person in this show while remaining very much themselves, and Bittenfeld does it all while proudly being the boar in a china shop the whole way through somehow.
