I just had to have this wooden box! I have a separate carrying case for travel though…

I have the wooden box and cardboard box.
I think both are excellent, the luminance are very well protected in both.

LOL I don’t blame you! These are the nicest of all the wood boxes I have. But I like having a cardboard luminance box!

Very nice! I personally prefer getting more pencils then spending money on the wood case. I also love storing my other pencil sets in the tin they came in. I have a yustomo niji roll for traveling

Usualy i prefer the other pachage, or open stock, but the wooden caran dache boxes, compared to the faber castel ones, aren't as relatively expensive (for reference, where I live, the faber castel boxes are up to twice the price of the metal ones, while the caran dache are up to a third more expensive. So they may be worth the trouble if you don't have a place to store your pencils...
In the end, o think i will prefer to get a big portable pencil case for these pencils

I put my Museum Aquarelle in a pencil holder bag. It is just easier to carry around with me without them banging around against each other and also to store on my shelf with all my other pencil bags with different brands of pencils in them. I keep my back up Aquarelle box in the box though.

I have the Luminance and Museum sets both in wood boxes. My reasoning was that these pencils are already so dam expensive, so what the... - Can just as well also get the wood boxes too. ;)
...Also, I didn't know the cardboard box was that good. Had I known, it might have changed things. Still, I like the wood box.
Taping the foam was a good idea. I'll probably do that too.
I haven't really started to use either of them yet though. I went away for Christmas and I only brought my Polychromos. But I suspect Museum to be kinda tricky to use? You almost have to use them exclusively as watercolors? They don't show off their color until wet.

I have both, I have the box of neo colors ll…I think they’re amazing and worth it. Now, I need to use them. I don’t think buying the box is worth it, it’s big, heavy and unnecessarily expensive. I’m starting think more about the cost, save where I can so I can buy more. I waited for Blicks to have a gift card reward, so I got $60 off of my $600 purchase, I purchased them all together.

I actually like the cardboard box better! And the cardboard box is around $200 cheaper then the wood box. I normally keep my Caran dache pencils in the case they come in except for my Pablos I keep them in a separate case.

Very nice! I started with the 40 piece Luminance carboard set and then upgraded to the wooden box when I found it at a decent price. You get a few useful duplicates, two graphite pencils and the two blenders. I liked that box so much that I got the pastel pencil version too. I suppose it's a question of your budget and if you travel with the pencils a lot. I'm traveling right now, and the wooden boxes are still back home. I haven't used either Polychromos or Luminance on top of watercolors yet. That was actually on my todo list for next week. Enjoy the holidays!

Thank you so much for watching! Yes out of all the wood boxes I have this is the best. Thank you for letting me know what the extras on the Luminance wood box are! I am so happy and blessed to have my set! I do have a set of 48 Albrecht Dürer in a wood box that travels like a gem! It’s smaller than the Luminance full set cardboard box but as it’s 48 watercolor pencils it works really well for me.

No matter what they come in, I always move my pencils to a separate carry case because it is easier to take with me when I travel. I have the Luminance, but I prefer Caran d'Ache Supracolors for travel. My exception is my Caran d'Ache pastel pencils that I bought in the wood case. Good review as always. Happy holidays and best wishes fou and your family!

Thank you and happy holidays to you and yours as well! I really want to try those pastel pencils! I really love the set of 60 supracolor I have. I can totally see why they would be great for traveling.

I personally hate that you can’t move the bottom tray of color pencils 😂 I always thought that was just me.
Anyways, I really like wood boxes to makes the people feel vintage. ☺️

    Oil based or wax?

      "Oil based or wax?"
I think they are oily wax, or maybe waxy oil!
