Matthew 18:15-17
“If your brother or sister sins, go and point out their fault, just between the two of you. If they listen to you, you have won them over. But if they will not listen, take one or two others along, so that ‘every matter may be established by the testimony of two or three witnesses.’ If they still refuse to listen, tell it to the church; and if they refuse to listen even to the church, treat them as you would a pagan or a tax collector.
Three things about relationships:
1. Some conflict is inevitable.
2. Hurting people hurt people.
3. The issue is never the issue.
We See Seven Things in This Passage:
1. Condition
“If your brother sins against you.”
2. Command
“Go.”
3. Confrontation
“Confront him.”
4. Constraint
“Privately.”
5. Correction
“If they listen to you, you have won them over.”
6. Coordination
“Take a witness or two with you.”
7. Congregation
“Take it to the church.”
Conclusion
1. Encourage others 14 times for every criticism.
2. Don’t criticize someone for whom you have not prayed.
