I've lived in Michigan all my life. (born and raised in metro Detroit) All my life I thought, "What's special about Michigan? Why would anyone wanna live here? It's boring." Then, one summer my dad took me up to Traverse City. Traverse City was cool and all, but nothing really stood out with me. Then we went to Torch Lake. My dad's friend was talking about how it was ranked the 3rd most beautiful freshwater lake in the world, but I didn't really pay any piece of mind. When we got to the lake, I was literally brought to my knees. I had no idea anything like this existed in Michigan. I had no idea we had that sort of natural beauty here. That evening driving back to Traverse City down US-31, I began to see the state in a new light. I began to see that what we have here is indeed very special. It's not just another state, it's a priceless gem. I now know very well what they mean when they say, "Great Lakes, Great Times."

I remember when this video was released, they should do an updated version with more Detroit this time, it has changed a lot since those past 10 years and Royal Oak should be presented by its downtown and the zoo should be presented separately

Born and raised in Northern Michigan moved out to Utah 3 years ago and I miss Michigan so much that I decided next year I'm moving back there
