this was by far the best replication of the truman show as a social experiment I've ever seen. saw another guy do this with a noob where he tried to convince his minecraft noob friend that his fabricated dome was just the normal way minecraft is, but besides it being completely scripted, it also just fell into that weird area of content where gamers get non-gamers to play games, but don't give them any advice, not even controls/keybinds, and just watch them struggle and have a bad time, which just isn't fun for anyone

i know the exact video youre talking about, and i felt the same way. like it was overall a really interesting execution but knowing it was scripted made it kinda underwhelming and awkward. the fact that this was actually a 100% real experience (well, not real, but “real”) made this so much more entertaining to watch. and its nice that this video went farther than just “blocks are dropping and you found our secret doorway” but really tried to recreate specific scenes from the movie as authentically as possible

This was the best way I've seen someone really do this concept justice. Most "Truman show" Minecraft videos are just people bnringing their friend into like a fake world box, but this really embodied the thematic elements of what the movie was about more so than the literal ones.

Its a lot worser than what im saying, u can find out more on a documentary on Hulu/disney+ (The Contestant)

All of this is even shocking to us viewers because when we watched the streams we didn’t know those fights were faked. When I watched derap get jumped in the nether and mapic tried to go in help, I thought that was all completely real and it’s just crazy that it was scripted the whole time.
