Now this is the type of journalism we need in the biker community! But the real reason you did it is because you want them to send you one for more "scientific research" ;)
bleeding forks is just unscrewing one screw, letting the excess air out of the front forks and then tightening it, so that should not be considered as a maintenance job you pay money for.
All calculations are based on the service being performed at the dealership, this is according to the way Stark Future did the calculations of the maintenance cost of the gas driven bike. This means that even a job you COULD do yourself has to be done by an mechanic
250 Euros to oil the chain?!? 375 to bleed air out of the forks? This is literally free stuff every serious rider does without even thinking. Your breakdown is more of an effect of the way the manuals are written. They use essentially the same components (suspension, brakes, wheels), so all of those cancel out. The difference is only between the propulsion types when it comes to maintenance. I’ve owned a stark for a year and the running cost and maintenance is way lower. The only maintenance is the componentry, which is the same on a gas bike.
I believe that many of the inaccuracies come from a lack of experience. Whether you're riding electric or gasoline, you don't take your bike to the shop just to lube the chain or bleed the forks, but most owners probably don't feel comfortable rebuilding the engine. You shouldn't take everything too literally. So far, Varg has only cost me a drivetrain kit (chain and rear sprocket) and a little oil in service costs (80h). My TE300i was significantly more expensive. Also, it's the dock for the phone that needs to be lubricated, not the charger.
Yeah well as I said in the video I would have done all these stuff myself in the garage, but that’s not really the point of the video, I’d recommend you rewatch it.
Lack of experience from Stark Future? I just assume they know what they are talking about, remember that they are the ones that set the rules in their calculations of not being able to do it yourself
@@HOJSAC Inexperience in maintaining an MX/Enduro. It doesn’t matter if you ride electric or gasoline, you handle standard maintenance yourself. You take what Stark writes literally, it’s obvious they don’t mean you should take your bike to the workshop just to lubricate the chain and bleed the forks. That’s just common sense. If, against all odds, you did take it in for that, every service shop I’ve worked with would do it for free if you bought the bike there, it takes more time and resources to write a work order than to lubricate and loosen a screw. You don't even need to unload the bike. And 250 euros to lubricate the phone dock? Seriously? The bare minimun is at an oil change, which I can understand some people leaving to a shop. Otherwise, it’s an easy job that takes 5 minutes, CEC in Gothenburg charges 40 euros for both the work and the oil. Gör om gör rätt som vi säger i Sverige.
@ I gathered the point of the video was to make a real comparison between the cost of ownership for both types of bike. It's your video so you're free to choose whichever method you like, but the results are meaningless to me (or any serious rider) because of the flawed experimental method. If the intent was to compare the way the maintenance intervals were written, then maybe you succeeded. I do appreciate the effort you put into it and quality of the video, I just find the results pretty meaningless.
Varg uses 80ml for the gear oil so 1 bottle of oil would last 200hrs and to anyone saying if the battery goes bad or the motor guess what it has a 2 year warranty
Even though their claim is for 100 hours, I wonder what the cost would look like if the price of the battery was amortized into that price. Thats my major worry with a lot of electric things nowadays. They are cheaper and work great until they don't and you're stuck with a costly battery or motor replacement.
I am disappointed by the false advertisement they are spewing. I am however still liking the sounds of 60-70% savings and Ive seen a couple builds made from their motors made by Cboystv like the Golf cart and most recent snow bike build, and the look like they rip hard and I kinda want one now more after watching this video.
@@alexsergas6180 It’s weird but there is no fork and shock maintenance in the service manual for the gas bike. That’s why I added the 2000£ to account for that aswell.
Thanks man! The reason for the rather large cost is due to the fact that Stark Future did the calculations based on everything being done at the dealership, it’s gonna be hard to find a dealership willing to do the labor for less then that
@@HOJSAC Yes, but you can just get a slightly used gas enduro for much less. Obviously if you absolutely must have a brand new bike, you'll save money going with with electric(in Sweden, some other countries have ridiculous electric prices) like with cars.

what about battery life, how long will the most used battery last compared to the batteries that get maintained the best?
