Basic Salary Rs. 16,800 p.m. Dearness allowance @ 45% of salary, city compensatory allowance Rs.9,600, house rent allowance Rs. 36,000, Remuneration as examiner 1,000.He is member of a Statutory Provident Fund to which he contributes 8% of his salary. The college iscontributing an equal amount. During the previous year he spent Rs. 2,000 on books purchased forteaching purpose. The college paid him Rs. 8,600 for using his own scooter work. He lives in arented house, the rent payable being Rs. 3,500 p.m. He was rent by the college to attend areorientation seminar. The college spent Rs. 2,000 for the purpose including his first class fare to andfro seminar fees etc.

Sir here in this question DA was given as 50% so why do we show the full amount i.e 6000 and not 3000?
Da is fully taxable.
But when you calculate HRA or RFA , you have to consider only the part which forms a part of retirement benefit.
So when you calculate total salary, DA IS FULLY TAXABLE
