The thing that gets me about top boxes is that when you put stuff in them, the weight is high, and behind the rear axle line. It stuffs up the handling;)

Indeed, i am going to sell the gs. It is too heavy.
When we come back I will look for a f800gs or T7 (with saddle bags) 😄

Hoe oud is jou GSA?

Hoi!

It is an outstanding tire I just wish it lasted longer. I only got 2K miles out of front. Switched to Motoz Adventure. 7500 miles on back 4000 on front.

Ben , Motoz Tires were developed for the Outback in Australia .. The Motoz Tractionator Adventure tire is long lasting & has a lot of meat on the tire .. They have very stiff sidewalls & do really well on pavement as well as in the dirt / sand / mud / rain .. They have silica in the center knobbies so the center tread wear is excellent .. These are supposed to be a 50%/50% tire streen / dirt but last 8km - 9km .. My second pick for distance tires which are more 65% / 35% , Street / Dirt are the Mitas E-07 .. These don't do as well in the sand & loose rock as the Motas do but the rear tire will last close to 15km .. They are a fantastic street tire even wet .. The Motoz are superior in the mud / snow .. The Motoz have very good sidewall strength .. Both tires can run tubeless as bead lock is very very good on both tires but I would choose the Mitas because they can be run flat ! .. Don't go over 25 miles per hour .. So as far as adventure tires go the Mitas can get you to the next city if you have a flat .. No other tires that I know of can do this .. The reason is they have the most belts in the tire which make the Mitas more puncture resistant .. I believe the Mitas are superman tires .. Being able to run slow flat is fantastic but my favorite is the Motoz for traction .. The Motaz RallZ are the most aggressive & I would say they are a 90% / 10% , Street / Road ..
The reason why I chose the KTM 690 is that it is 150 Kilos , 74 Bhp , 50 lb / ft of torque & 48 Mpg .. The tank is small so I have an under the seat tank form Rade Garage .. In my opinion a motor cycle that can't go at least 200 miles is not a motorcycle that I want .. I would prefer 300 miles per tank but having the bike weight low means that I don't sink into mud / snow / sand as much as a bigger heavier adventure bike .. The KTM's Seat is really bad , way to hard , So I got an upgraded Gel Seat that has a waterproof cover .. I know the seats are hot in the summer but if you like the mud / snow then this is a very good bike for that ..
I think I will buy two sets of wheels , One with the Mitas & the other with the Motoz & maybe if I can find the money street tires ..

      @benontheroadnl  2 года назад

Hi! Thank you for the great comment. I never heared about the Motoz tire. I looked them up and i think this wil be my next tire!
I am currently looking for a workshop that can overhaul my shock absorbers, they are worn out. This is going to cost some money and my gs is getting old... so im dubbing about making a trade with the gs for a newer bike.
Im thinking about the newest vstrom 650, but im not sure yet.

@@benontheroadnl Ben, I got Rid of my Heavy Adventure bike .. I like the power of the heavier bikes because I don't spend as much time off the road and they are truly better for the street as I am a big guy .. But I downsized to a KTM 690 .. 74 hp , incredible torque from a single cylinder bike .. 340 lbs wet .. It is maneuverable in rough terrain & powerful enough for good road ridding .. I like the bigger bikes for the road but I don't like them very much off road ..

Just to point out the Tractionator Adv tire isn’t 50/50, but more off road biased - it’s the Adv GPS that’s 50/50 with Motoz

Thank you Hans! Glad you liked it. How many km's you did on your E07? Now im driving Pirelli Scorpion trail. Nothing compare to the off road capabilities of the Michelin A.Wild, but it was a good deal and I am going to do a trip on mainly tarmac.
My next pick wil probably be Mitas or Motoz cause the Michelins worn very quick.

i've spent hours this winter shopping for new tires for my r1150gs. it came with shinko 705, looking for something more aggressive but will still survive on the pavement. i only got 3k miles out of a shinko705 rear, would hate to buy a +$160usd tire to just melt it off.
Excellent video, you make a great presenter. i came for tire opinions, but stayed for a fun video

Unfortunately I haven't ridden much lately because I had to replace something on the bike and some private circumstances.
But know i have to replace the rear tire..
If the front tire also needs to be replaced, I will also try a set of Heidenau Scout k60.

Great video, man. The only thing I can't wrap my head around is this: why are all of you BMW folks riding with an open helmet? This is just ridiculous, especially off tarmac (see 0:38). Like - you increase your risk of injury for the sake of looks? If you can't breathe, get a helmet with better ventilation. Seriously.
