I agree, it looks more like South East Asia and has living standard at par with European countries, 2022 United Nations report on SGD/HDI Score of Kerala is 0.779 which is actually more than European countries like Latvia, Albania and neighbours. Forigners only eat 'butter chicken'naan'and some famous food. In kerala you must try 'kerala sadhya' 'payasam' 'paripuvada, payampori' porotta with beef' eat these food it have surprising taste.please don't miss it. Biriyani also must try.❤ from kerala
They head to Kerala and order "Butter Chicken" - even after spending so much time in India, they still seem blissfully unaware of the rich culture and diverse cuisines. Here's a quick lesson: Languages/ dialects, and culinary traditions change every 200 kilometers in India, and Kerala boasts some of the finest cuisine in the country. Butter chicken was actually "created" around 70 years ago by an innovative chef in Delhi to repurpose leftover dry Tandoori or clay oven-grilled chicken. It is a left-over stale chicken dish- you would never get the perfect taste with freshly cooked chicken. For context: can you make a decent East/South East Asian fried rice with freshly steamed rice! Consider the process and ingredients: The Tandoor or clay oven was introduced by Central Asian nomadic conquerors (Descendants of Genghis Khan!) , while tomatoes and cashews were brought by the Portuguese from Spanish traders in South America. Before the introduction of tasteless broiler chicken, most Indians, primarily vegetarians, either did not consume chicken or could not afford it. Butter, a recent addition, was introduced by the colonial Europeans / British; only the wealthy could afford Ghee (clarified butter), which was mainly used in Hindu rituals as an offering to the gods. It's disheartening to see them request “Butter Chicken” in Kerela and southern India in general, and sad to know that many restaurants include it on their menus to cater to Western and East Asian palates, resulting in an almost bland array of options. And then they will surely label it as "authentic Indian" food/cuisine. I've spent my entire life here and still don't know what truly constitutes "authentic" Indian cuisine. We are not one India - within our ancient nation, there are thousands of diverse cultural and culinary traditions.

Check out Andaman and Nicobar Islands and Lakshadweep Islands! Their beaches are like a gazillion times better than Goa - crystal-clear blue waters and stunning white sand. Andaman and Nicobar are so much easier to get to, loads of direct flights from India, and no permits needed! Super tourist-friendly with tons of beach activities. It's massive, though. You'll need like 12 to 14 days to soak in all the beauty - beaches, forests, waterfalls, marine life, and wildlife. Lakshadweep has even more beautiful and less crowded beaches. But it's a bit trickier to reach, and you'll need permits. Go for a private or government tour package. It's close to the Maldives and Kerala, so if you're planning, hit up a Lakshadweep tour operator in Kerala, especially in Kochi.
