  • The colourful, exotic fish are an invasive species off the coast of Florida. So far, efforts to stop them have been ineffective.

Sell them to China. The price of lionfish costs 10 dollars a kilo.

Lion fish is rn quite one of the best fish ive ever tasted, found one at the so called ‘vanishing islands’ at the philipines near legazpi in those huts out in the seas, it was under in one of em and caught one and we decided to try em out, and man they were extraordinary

The problem with making these things commercially viable is that fisherman et cetera will be stocking the Reefs with Juvenile Lionfish to keep their market satisfied. It needs to be stated that this is an extermination program against this invasive species and that restocking them will be a 20 year prison sentence with hard labour because restocking the reefs with lionfish will destroy the reefs utterly.

This is exactly the same thing that happened with invasive Pythons in the Everglades. They were dumped pets. Floridians never learn.

What are their natural predators in their home range?

It’s issues like this that shows the stupidity of humanity. We have PhD professors, in top universities, that should be doing something real ie warning everybody what is dangerous to do to the oceans. There is no point having all these academic qualifications and treating them in a purely academic fashion. If there is no application to the real world then the subject is nothing more than academic masturbation. However the problem with academics is that they are academic and their info moves around a little academic pool..... get it out there.

There must be some natural predators for Lion Fish. Especially in the Pacific and the Indian Oceans.

Hire Aquaman so lion fish will aggregate in one area and people will find and eat them. Problem solve. Lol.

Aquaman is not real. He is a fictional cinematic character. Google it to find out.

I don't get it. Why not import some predators from the Pacific that are also native to the Caribbean like sharks and eels? When their Atlantic cousins see them feasting on lionfish which apparently don't run, word will get out and they'll start eating them and their numbers will eventually be manageable as in the Pacific.

They're training sharks to eat them, the video I just come from demonstrated this.

Brainjock they're venomous not poisonous, there's a difference. They're totally fine with in/with eating them.
