@beatriztv68- yes, this is good for furniture; do a single coat for a weathered/distressed look; more for a "fresher" look. you can make whitewash waterproof, too, which I'd suggest for table tops or other surfaces that may take a pounding. waterproofing whitewash should be applied hot, though. can be a bit daunting. recommend a helper, if available, to keep it stirred while you work the piece of furniture.
Yeah, my exact reaction when he said caustic ie acidic to your hands :) I know this slip of the tongue from my own videos, it's easy to watch, not to speak!
mikemb123 - I know it's been awhile, but, I didn't see anyone answer you; it depends on the subsurface; certain porous materials, when first built (think any kind of plaster) should be damp when whitewashed. However, going over established, previously limed surfaces, damp is not necessary. (free of dirt/debris/growing-stuff, for sure!) However, you'll find some people who swear up and down that every surface needs to be dampened. Reasonable minds may differ. In the main, though, a restoration project won't need it.

Would this mixture also be good for protecting trees from ants? I know that's what they do to trees in Mexico just don't know if its a different mixture..?
I don't mean to be impolite hit the video was a little.... The word is slake as in to rest. Släke with a full A sound. The salt and the sand is s weathering agent. 5-10% plaster or addition of white cement at the same 5-10% of the dry powder weight will also harden the line for weathering. The fundamental parts are lime and water. You can add aggregate from the courses if fine silica sand to brick chips in lime plaster
lol Sooooo ... you're adding 2 and a half gallons of water into a 5 gallon bucket. Umm, not sure why you need the one gallon plastic jug. Your the expert but gee, wouldn't it save time to just spray the water directly into the bucket and fill it half way up by simple observation/eyeballing it?
Not sure how that’s so funny... people do things differently. I prefer his method which is very precise. I’m a novice and probably wouldn’t eye it right so I appreciate this.
the calcium reacted with water to produce calcium hydroxide it used for white washing wall after it dries it forms a thin layer of calcium carbonate

So if I heat it up white wash, apply it, let it dry, it's now waterproof?
That bag of lime NOW is like 70 dodllars.... here in Canada.
Lime is corrosive but it's basic, not acidic. Still burn you though

Yes you can buy tint base and add. Some people use mineral tints such as when making boiled linseed oil coatings.
