  • The global demand for dinosaur fossils is booming, with increasing interest from wealthy collectors across Asia. In 2024, a Stegosaurus skeleton was sold at an auction in New York for a record $44.6m.
Fossil hunters are raking in profits, while Asian buyers bond over their collections and see fossils as a way to educate the next generation about history.
However, some academics say the commercial fossil trade is unethical and harmful to science.
101 East investigates the multimillion-dollar trade in dinosaur fossils.

Allah has given every human being free will. A person can choose not to harm anyone, and a person can also choose to become like Hitler and kill innocent people. Some atheists say that after death there is nothing - no justice, no accountability. But if that were true, then who would give justice to the millions of innocent people who were killed? Who will answer for what Hitler did to the Jews, what Mao did to innocent civilians, or what is happening to innocent children being killed in wars today? Can it be that they suffered pain and oppression and then everything simply ended with no justice?
No - on the Day of Judgment, Allah will question every oppressor. Every life taken unjustly will be accounted for. The people who suffered, the innocent children, and even victims of crimes like those connected to Jeffrey Epstein will not be forgotten. The pain they faced in this world will not go unanswered. The one who caused suffering will face consequences equal to the ظلم (oppression) he committed.
Allah made this life short - only about 70 or 80 years - and it is a test. We are meant to live it by doing good, helping people, and trying to improve ourselves. A person should try to be a good son, a good husband, a good father, and a good brother. We are not angels, we all make mistakes, but the beauty is that Allah gave us repentance. When we do wrong, we can ask forgiveness.
This short life is extremely important because the real and eternal life comes after death. If a person lives righteously and does good, Paradise awaits him. But if someone kills innocent people and spreads injustice, then he will be held accountable and punished in the Hereafter. True justice may not always happen in this world, but in the end, no ظلم will go unanswered.
