    I believe your channel and others that are showing that the 7PRC is not as advertised,and you're showing the 6.8 comparison,will help push the 6.8 more. I hope so,eventhough I don't own one yet,I do plan on getting one,and I'd love to see more component manufacturers get on board with it.I am a little disgusted with the way Hornady has acted here recently,and I think a lot of people are starting to see the light.

    • @brandonjett16
      @brandonjett16 6 месяцев назад

      That's because the 7prc is by hornady and they sponsor people to push it. The ones that don't get sponsored put out the hard facts honest reviews are only the way to go. The 6.8 western by winchester and browning are the same just different made guns y should they have to push it hard when they know they already made a great cartridge and hornady got mad and wanted the attention u have to remember 6.8 western has been out a good while during the ammo shortage they were hard to get which people didn't like and the rounds were the same cost then as they are now. I know I still have the first two boxes I haven't shot. I bought when the 6.8 western came out a long when the first two different rifles came out I got one of them. I'm not saying hornady is bad for ammo they just dropped the ball selling people shit ammo so they can keep there factory running on 7prc ammo and so consumers have something to shoot yes its not right to do that and not tell ur customers wat ur doing lying isn't that great hope it back fires on them. I called them out in a video they did when I chronographed calibers I had with same barrel length they used and were way off so I called them out then no reply someone makes a video on it and they fold faster

    Problem is whether you are reloading or buying factory ammo, the velocities hornady gives is max. You may be able to get that velocity with a powder or two at max you have no wiggle room. If you reload and your rifle doesnt like a powder or a bullet it cant produce the results people all jumped on the bandwagon for. Take a 300 win mag. You have up to 150+ fps to play with vs factory ammo. And you can get there with many many powders. 200 bullets that do well in the field or on target. Look at max loads with barnes lrx bullets or scirrocos. The prc is way down from the 300 win mag.

Thats very a heavy for calibre projectile for the 7mm. Jacob at handloader tv did a recent string of tests with custom built rifle from Yavapai gunsmith college. He got some amazing velocities and groups,especially with reloader 25 & 26. The caveat is the rifle has a 26 inch barrel. I was still impressed as he seemed to tap into the potential of the case. I bought a Seekins Precision PH2 last July. Had the option on 7 PRC or 7 REM Mag. The dealer I bought it from convinced me to get it in 7 REM Mag. After seeing all the recent videos about the underwhelming performance of 7 PRC, I’m glad I made the choice that I did. I’m handloading 7 Rem Mag, and I’m getting velocity’s that smoke the factory loaded stuff. I’m sure handloading 7 PRC to max would be better than factory ammo, but case capacity doesn’t lie. I always thought it was fishy when Hornady claimed faster velocities with the same type and amount of powder in 7 PRC in their reloading manual. That literally doesn’t make sense. You can’t have the same bullet and same amount of powder and get drastically different velocity.

    • @oblivionpro69
      @oblivionpro69 6 месяцев назад +3

      If you’re a hand loader, it actually does make sense to go with the PRC, as it’s only the factory loads currently having a problem. Also, the reason you think it “literally doesn’t make sense”, is because you don’t know about the pressure differences. 7mm rm is at 62k, 7PRC at 65k. That means with the same powder load it will have slightly more velocity all else equal, it’s just how it works.

    • @oblivionpro69

That they claim the lack of one powder knocked them out of the "3000fps club" has to be a big fat lie. If I'm wrong, I can only stipulate that the powder they initially used was not on their load data list. I just can't think of what that powder could be. Norma MRP?

They surely have access to some of the other powders, but they were not able to achieve the accuracy they wanted with the same velocities. The person from Hornady stated they preferred accuracy over velocity, I think they simply made a mistake by not changing the velocity on the box. I am still a believer in the 7 PRC and all of the PRC's for that matter, they are well designed and with Stabal HD, H1000 or Magpro, which are all readily available accuracy and velocity should be good enough for most people. I understand it looks good with the 4 shots shown but that’s not the real group size, you can’t though a flyer out, that flyer is part of that group and it shows what the rifle could do on any of the 5 shots. But just my two cents, good video! I may have to show the 7prc getting over 2900 fps because I think I still got a box left of ammo. Also if I had to pick I still would take 280 and 280ai over both these two. 👍

  • @ronws2007
    @ronws2007 6 месяцев назад

    Here is what I think of why the Fierce is performing a bit better than the Mossberg. It has to do with the stock.
    The Fierce Rival has carbon bedding and any sturdy bedding makes for a better shooter.
    The Mossberg Patriot Predator Strata that you have there is a stock similar to the Mossberg Patriot synthetic stock. The mag well is removable and it is used as a shim. The rear action screw guide has a gap so that it is not a complete circle. You can never torque down what you need. This is going to allow some motion, I think, in the rear of the action, using the front action screw like a fulcrum.
    Put the Mossberg in any bedded stock, most especially a chassis, and it does better. I know because I have some and I have mentioned this more than once to Mossberg and they are not interested in changing their ways.

      As it sits, the 7 prc is underperforming to the point where all the claims that Hornady makes are straight lies.
      They developed a cartridge to give buyers match grade performance, that would beat older cartridges. Now real world results are in. We were duped.
      9:07 It's not faster than a RM, the PRC has smaller capacity. You can seat the same bullets in the RM brass, and with most barrels you can stabilize the heavier bullets especially at altitude. If you have a RM browning with an 8 twist, which is factory btw, your set for any 7mm bullet.
      As 7prc owner, I wish I had just gotten the 7RM. Factory ammo from federal is about half the price. The whole "advantage" was out of the box, off the shelf high level performance. Those things just aren't there for the 7PRC.
      And with more wars on the horizon, powder supply problem will probably not get better.

    I would encourage everyone to be pragmatic about this. The PRC has the potential to be an excellent cartridge. It offers a more efficient cartridge design and can be loaded to tighter tolerances with heavy for caliber bullets. Even though we’re seeing velocities on par with 7RM out of factory offerings, handloading will quickly bridge that gap. We’re still getting 7RM velocities, and those are no joke. I’m pretty sure the animal won’t care. Right now I’m not inclined to plunk down a grand for a new rifle, as I’m not a PRC fanboi, but give it a year or two and I’m sure you’ll see the improvements you’re looking for. Hornady won’t be able to withstand the criticism and backlash, and continue to push the 7 PRC without fixing the powder/velocity issue.

      6.5 prc to think of comparison would probably be compared to the 6.5 x 284 norma is my guess have to do more research

    Had a look at the 6.8 Western load data. Unless I'm missing something, it looks more in line with the 6.5 Prc, not the 7. Even the Hodgdon load data stops at the 175s with a max load at 2,883fps. It doesn't even break 3k unless you're maxing out with a 150gr. Best I can tell, the 175s are the heaviest you can get in box ammo as well with Browning's 175s claiming 2835fps.
    Why is the 6.8 even coming up in a 7 Prc conversation?

      If you stand on the 7mm PRC... it beats the 6.8 pretty easily. It's that 6.8 Western factory ammo outperforms the 7mm PRC factory ammo.
      One last thing... all the 6.8 Western reloaders I talk to get better velocity than the books without going over max.

      @@ReloadingWeatherby The Hornady factory ammo. That's the same point someone else just made. The Hornady ammo being low like it is brings the 6.8 into the conversation but if you reload or use a different ammo the 6.8 stays out of the conversation.
      I was just looking at the Hodgdon 6.8 reloading data and at available box ammo. I have no doubt you can see different results real world.
      What I didn't see was anything over the 175s. Do the guys you know push 180s and 190s like the 7 does?

      So little bullet options for 6.8 Western. Another benefit for 7mm PRC. The highest b.c. bullet is the 170 gr EOL.
