I sold my Hypermotard 796 last year and have been jonesing for another bike since. Absolutely love these Aprilias and supermotos in general, so thanks for the vid. It allows me to live vicariously by watching it hahha
That means a lot to me♥ I was in a similar situation as you, so when I bought the bike I figured I would give back to the community. I miss it every day. Wild little beast, however I reccomend you have a more reliable bike alongside the Aprilia as you need to service it frequently. also if you are planning on doing your engine rebuilds yourself you need to factor in at least a few weeks of downtime.
@@benji376 Hell yeaa, no one touches my shit but me hahah. But no you're right. I was gonna get like a yamaha Wr250 or even a cheap little 49cc scooter, while the Aprilia is apart. But idc I'll have an SXV by this summer no matter what!! My absolute favorite bike..... did you say you sold yours??
@@benji376 thank you. I have not. Its currently in another state and I will collect it a couple months froma friend. It’s bike #6 of the collection so it will be a slow burn. Back when I was racing in England. The Aprilia SuperTeens class ran what was known as “RRV450” that were built by Ian Newton of BeIN Competition. They were incredible to look at and even rode alongside some on certain free practice sessions throught the season. I really wish I couldve bought one then. They are so bespoke, parts for them are like trying to find Rocking Horse shit hahaha My dream bike is an RSV4 RF and my 2nd is an SXV. I csn proudly say I now have both in my stable. Which is such an accomplishment for me personally. Now comes the task to build to the standard that is suitable/feasible. I appreciate you putting the video together and it brings enthusiasts like us together. Keep up the good work dude!!!
can i ask where you buy important spares like pistons and whatnot? i'd like to have one but looking at the availabilty of parts i am less and less inclined to buy one
actually, I'm not sure. I advise you to find a local guru like I did when I bought mine. - Someone who knows every nut and bolt, and can hook you up with spare parts. It's going to be expensive to maintain either way. Be prepared to have it in the garage at least as much as you would ride it. This is a bike that works best as a secondary weekend type thing (I used it as a daily for about a year until the newly rebuilt engine failed). However when you do ride it, you will fall in love. I desperately want Aprilia to make a modernised SXV. It's the most thrilling thing I have ever laid my hands on. I love the bike and would like to offer you a lukewarm, bittersweet recommendation to buy one.
and yes - by the way - parts are notoriously hard to obtain. You will find what you need, but it might take time, cost money or have you buy a parts-bike. Good luck :)
I sold it not long after this video. It started running bad, a gasket blew and hot liquid sprayed down my bare leg.. it almost siezed up (very hard to rotate, even when going fast downhill) The engine was completely rebuilt the year before. It still broke down just a year later So safe to say, aprilia sxv isn’t the most reliable bike.
@@benji376 the first one i owned flywheel bolts came loose and motor locked up(currently rebuilding right now) the second one has been very good to me, only minor things ive needed to work out like the right mapping. but otherwise its been good to me. but i dont have enough miles to claim it to be "reliable". how can i contact you? if your interested i have some "secrets" if youd like to call them that. are you on facebook?

Hey Nice video. Did you have any problems with the bike. Accept the starter in this video 😃.

@@benji376 there is a fix for the headgasket. there is nothing wrong with these motors if you know what your doing. the real issue is parts.

Why bump start?
The starter actually failed right before filming the video. I still havent figured out why as the internals look just fine...
Have you tried the upgraded starter?
