Totally agree with you on the overhead lights. They could at least cut slits where they go, then have some somewhat foggy plastic inserts that you could remove and replace, or simply place led lights over so light gets diffused thru them.
You know, I'm not much of a Star Wars fan, other than maybe a slight casual collector of them. I mean, I love the ships and technology, and the original three movies are fantastic. In my opinion, Rogue One is the best of the modern films and is ons of my favorites.
Plus, I tend to collect only the 3.75" Black Series and the 3.75" Vintage Collection lines only, because they work well with GI Joe/Terminator/Jurassic World Scale stuff.
Now I say all that to say this, even I know that $500 is way too much for all off that, even with the tiers. Inflation be as ridiculous as it is, at a minimum, this should be $100 less, and include everything to make that whole bar at 5:00 and the band plus that singer from the Special Edition. Maybe throw in the guy who loses his arm and the nut sack mouth guy, lol. 😂

I backed the standard version already and am looking forward to it. Prior to the official reveal I'd only been so enthusiastic about it, but after watching the reveal stream and seeing the detail of the bar and everything it comes with, plus the figure loadout, I've been excited since and am hoping all the figure unlocks are reached somehow. The photographer ShootingtheGalaxy does such good work, including the shots they took for the Cantina, and I hope Hasbro compensates them nicely because they're responsible for me buying a bunch of their stuff!
As for the 3D printing idea and that it could somehow be cheaper to do it that way, I don't have a 3D printer, have no skills in painting, and am not interested in trying (LOL), so I have a hard time wrapping my head around that route being cheaper/more efficient for most people. If you already have a 3D printer and are skilled at/like painting toys, I could see it, but I don't know how many collectors actually fit that description. At this point, I'll pay Hasbro the $400 and change it'll take to make and paint it for me + the figures it will include.

Now, this is cool. I haven't collected vintage since I was a kid . Was talking with my friends and if this was a black series it would had been more up my alley it's a cool set just too small for me anyways

I’m on the fence about purchasing the Cantina (base offering only). My issue is that it’s about $100 overpriced. The TVC Modal Nodes band was offered as a Pulse exclusive last year. Where you put them in the HasLab is another question.

I’ll be honest, if you collect 3.75 SW, you will going to regret passing on this much like people did with the Barge. I don’t think collectors understand how flexible and modular this thing is. This can be used for prequels, OT and new media. Each alcove can be displayed on it’s own in so many different displays. It can be added to a Jabba’s throne display and so much more. Also you couldn’t even come close to getting something like this 3D printed for the price and quality. About a year ago I got 4 different quotes on a Cantina (not including figures) and the cheapest quote I got was $425. This didn’t even include accessories, tables and chairs. As someone who has done the research, the price is fair. Now if you don’t have the money then you just don’t. But if you do and you’re on the fence, man I really do feel you’ll regret it. The Tonnika sisters alone will hold this value. Instead of 3D printing it, my suggestion would be to back it and sell the figures. Just my opinion of course. Enjoyed the video😊

The Cantina is cool, but I don't have infinite money and space so this is a pass for me. I was in a different stream the other day and someone was saying if you don't have $500 to back this you should not be a collector. Sometimes the things people say is just silly. We can all collect on our own budget without being poor shamed.

I'm going to pass on it myself though I'm sure it'll get funded to at least the first tier. While I do have SW figures from the mid late 2000's, most of them wouldn't fit in the cantina anyways. There was a Haslab for Jabba's Sail Barge a few years ago that met it's goal.
I did back the Ghost from last year since it reminded me of the Kenner Millennium Falcon I had and still do. It is already a playset in itself scaled for 3.75" figures. It seems like they took some of the design ideas from the BA Millennium Falcon from around a decade ago and bumped it up.

I don't feel the deluxe model meets the base offering price. That's just me. So it's a pass. If it's everything someone else dreams of, I'm not gonna discourage them from getting. But for the price I feel like there should be lights, the band stage, more figures. I dunno.

I backed the deluxe set. I like it but not loving it. It's kind of disappointing . No lighting, no floor , feels unfinished. Just my opinion. 500 bucks also kind of expensive 😳. I pulled the trigger anyway. If it gets backed, cool if it doesn't. I understand why . I enjoyed watching your review

  • @alegalfiction

I backed it. When you measure out the space it takes up using the dimensions given in the Haslab website, it’s massive. Much bigger than you would think. I suspect that this will get backed and made, but in small numbers- barely over the 8,000 goal. With that in mind, imagine the prices this will go for on eBay in 2 years. It will probably be more expensive than the Barge. If you pass on this now (if you can afford it), imagine how you will feel in 2 or 3 years trying to get this set for $2,000. If you want a TVC cantina, get it now. This is your only chance. I am also concerned that, although this Haslab will meet the 8,000 goal - it will barely do so. I think the end result will be that there will never be another VTC Haslab again.
