The Elephants Play with... Socks | Khanyisa, Limpopo, Somopane & Bubi Are Especially Interested

- The elephants share some much needed comic relief on this Wednesday in the wild as they come across a random pair of missing socks. We do not know how the socks got there and certainly have not seen human garments in the bush before, but the dam is frequented by guests and residents in the reserve. Elephant carer Last captured the scene as Khanyisa, Limpopo, Somopane and Bubi all show special interest in the owner-less socks found at the waterhole. It's so interesting to watch as they investigate these peculiar objects in their home as they stop by the dam for a drink. They also stumble upon a hippo in the water, and calmly drink beside it, while Limpopo and Sebakwe make sure to keep an eagle eye on the animal. It seems hippos are far less intrigued by human paraphernalia like socks, but there are enough curious trunks to give the strange white thingamajigs the once and twice-over.
It's so good watching Khanysia growing up and running with her family❤
They are so sweet and inquisitive all wanting to know what this thing is and I love how Limpopo put his foot on it and stretched it, like a detective! Khanyisa gracefully let Limpopo investigate and then the rest were then given the chance to inspect it! What a wonderful family this is!
I love how Somopane tastes the one sock, then hurls it away in disgust, then tries the other one thinking it might be better 🤣

It was, in fact, the hippo who left his socks on the edge of the dam because he didn't want to get them wet.
Haha! That's what I was thinking! Hippo's going to be upset when he gets out and finds his socks are gone :)

Living nearby, i found that hippos weren't jolly fat guys. The elephants in the wild always took my breath away.
I bet if the elephants could talk, they would tell us whose socks that are. Elephants have have such a keen sense of smell, and know what all the people at herd smell like. The socks almost seem like souvenir's

The size of these magnificent elephants truly amazes me. To think that these creatures actually exist in the world in this environment is awe-inspiring to me. I hope I can witness them one day.

I got a bit sad when I saw Setombe - I'm glad to see she seems to be doing well, but it reminded me of Phabeni and all the things - like this day with the socks and his family at the damn - that he will never enjoy ... Thank you for the laugh this morning! Limpopo was trying to figure out what she could do with the sock since it didn’t taste good. They have a curious playful nature.
With the elephant's very strong olfactory system, I hope those socks don't have an offending smell.😂 There's really no doubt that elephants are very intelligent, and their curiousity is just one proof of that, and it seems Limpopo is always the first one to display that. Hippos are said to be territorial, but it seems it's making an exception to our beautiful ellies, like it always does. Tokwe had really sent her message very effectively across to him. It's always a peaceful and calm atmosphere with the Jabulani herd with some sort of excitement here and there. I really look forward to each and every video posted by HERD everyday. I read what Adine wrote about the socks and it's interesting for sure to see their curiosity stroked lol. It's been hard for me to watch any videos in a few weeks since baby Phabeni's death. I loved him so, just like he was my real baby. But life goes on at HERD, and I don't want to miss out anymore of the videos and reels. It's been rough watching because I keep expecting the little bull to appear. As I said, I am going to continue to be a strong supporter for HERD, and all the babies, both big and small, because of my love for these fantastic beasts. ❤️🐘❤️🐘

Then at the water hole they meet up with a hippo 🦛 in the dam. I guess he wasn't a threat because the elephants 🐘 calmly kept drinking sharing the dam with it.
