Ahoj! I'm Jen, Native Californian, living in Prague, Czech Republic for the past 9 years with my husband and our rescue dog Tobik. One fateful night, we drank a bottle of wine, threw a dart at the map, and bought one-way tickets to move our entire lives to the center of Europe! Everyday we learn something new, about Czech people, Czech culture, Czech history, Czech language and how to battle the Czech bureaucracy. Dream Prague started as a place to share what we learned with other foreigners living here.

My wife, stepdaughter and I had the best day taking the tram to Vysehrad (sorry, not a Czech keyboard) then Naplavka. What a great day. Now we are at the opposite end of the country in Horni Lomna enjoying a rain storm which we hope will lead to houby. I love the Czech Republic!!!

Finca, Fenca, Fenka, whatever. Had a friend whose kočka´s name was Čočka. This guy used to run a village pub in south Bohemia. We felt so uneasy every time lentil soup was on the menu... 😊 Brilliant video, like always. 💛

Ještě 1x, pokud jsme u češtiny, zkus film ROZMARNÉ LĚTO - naprosto unikátní čeština v podání těch nej herců. kteří se naštěstí nedostali do Hollywoodu ani Bolywoodu, i když geniální režisér a občasný herec Menzel si byl pro Oscara za OSTŘE SLEDOVANÉ VLAKY - 1 z nejlepších filmů všech dob a Rozmarné léto též, - sice prší, vše jde v poklidném tempu, leč není to pravda a žádná nuda. A ta skvostná ČEŠTINA !!! ahoj Pavel

Hi Jen, i have a question for you. I habe never beem to the US and I knowit just from typical tv serieses or movies and I want to know if the kids growing up sell a lemon drinks outside their houses to make some money?

Byl jsem v Praze a těšil se do Primarku. Ale byla tam dlouhá fronta. Tak jsem šel aspoň do Národního muzea. Nicméně tam měli jen 4 tisíce let staré věci...

I think it's on website of ČT (czech televison) for free.

Jen,... What about Prague zoo...? Have you ever been there yet? If yes, was it over all better experience then US zoo? If no, how come? No interest in animals?
I don't think any zoo can beat the San Diego one.
Every self-respecting new apartment in hot summer Prague supposedly has an A/C (air conditioning).
The important word in your sentence is "new" because 99 of 100 apartments in Prague are everything but new.

Oh and the construction in the middle of summer - when else they should do it? It would be too cold to stand in their undies in the middle of the street, leaning on the shovel, if it wasn't summer!

Podle tech Vasich pravopisnych chyb se domnivam, ze jste to sam s ucenim cestiny daleko nedotahl!!!
Noo za 9 let v Brně se můj šéf (Němec) nenaučil žbleptnout vůbec nic. Thai-wanec zvládal excetrické šou při běžném obědě po 6 letech. Neexistuje správná rychlost výuky ani to co s tím docílíš. Chantal Poullain mluví skoro furt stejně česky (celkem bídně) a lidi ji stále mají rádi. Mám v práci i Rumuna, umí česky suprově a nesnášíme ho všichni. Nebuď tak předpojatý.

@@stevensgirl85 for example. 1 meal in above average restaurant (locals would say: it is quite expensive, but it's not so horrible - example: plzenkaolse.cz/en/menu, current rate 1$ = 22 Kč) 7-9$, pillsner beer 2,5$ per 0,5 l. But outside of city center you can find meal for 6$ and beer 1,5$ (not pillsner, but for example Radegast or Velkopopovický Kozel)
Please avoid using disposable plastic products. Beer (or any drink) in a plastic cup is a heresy. :D :)

v poslednej dobe mi RUclips ponúka videá o metrickom systéme vs imperiálny. Zaujímalo by ma ako ste sa tým vysporiadala po rokoch v Česku ?
mluvila o tom v jednom videu, ale už si nepamatuju název
To už jsem se Jen ptal asi 2x, a nějak se jí na toto téma asi nechce. Taky nechápu, jak s těmi jednotkami mohou žít, hlavně přepočty - 1 míle 10 yardů, 5 stop a 2apůl palce. Trvalo by mi dost dlouho spočítat. Proto asi v kuchařkách jsou ty lžičky, lžíce, hrníčky, abychom upekli cupcáky nebo chézecáky, to mě obrovsky pobavilo, jak se dají číst názvy pokrmů po česku

@@hikarucz-gw5hb Díky za informaci , ale právě na toto video jsem se díval několikrát a to pozorně, dolar je v centech, v kuchařkách se dá taky vyznat, spíš mi šlo o to, jak jsem tam možná uváděl v dotaze jak vyjádří třeba 333, 33 metrů, nebo třeba 1234,56 kg, v čem počítají spotřebu vody atd atd. , Tomuto právě nechápu, měřím-li 5 stop a 10 palců (příklad) vědí asi kolik to je, já pokud mám 183 cm, tak hned každý ví . Nebo naopak : kolik = 1 míle+10 yardů, +2 stopy +5 palců. Jak vypadá výuka matematiky? Že umí počítat je jasné, ale jak?
Toto je mi právě záhada, °C či °F mají zažitou jinou stupnici. Pavel

Ostatně Jenn sama vyzvala folow k tomu aby zpřesňovali její hovorovou češťinu :) Nebylo to míněno jakkoli kriticky, naopak. Jenn si vážím a uvítám jakýkoli pohled cizince na svou vlast abych se dozvěděl více

You meant it as a rhetorical question, but here you go anyway: Vienna is greener than Prague. Almost one half of the city is green.
It is actually less in Vienna than in prague. Vienna has 53 % and prague has 56 % of green places. But whoah, that is a lots of greenery in both cities :-)
Running in city I would not recommend you, unless you would not want feel it very painful in your knees after several years.

Make sure you leash your dogs all the time. Don't force the others to be touched by your dogs . Also don't take the whole sidewalk or asphalt in the park for you and your dogs. Consider the other pedestrians. If you do like some Americans who don't clean after their dog stop doing that and start cleaning after your dog . Make sure you let your dog do it in the soil not on tiles/concrete/asphalt.

@@janab6660 I saw her dogs without a leash which gave me an impression that she is like many other Americans needing a course for many things. We been suffering in the US from those issues including dog stools allover the sidewalk. Add to that many people don't clean in front of the house so we end up seeing the dog stool in the same place until the rain comes to take it away partially or completely it depends on how strong it is .

A co jako. Češi mají taky nutkání napsat „The Nature“ a nikdo se s tím ani nezatěžuje.
Proč ne ? Léto v Praze....se mnou např. se normálně dá použít. Nebo... Chceš strávit léto v Praze se mnou ?
