I was Lee Roy's bus driver back in 2011 ...great musican....he and his crew were class act people...JC Coleman...Johnny the Clock. .Big Charles Haynes...I hopetohavethe opportunity to see them again Wild Bill...still driving
Saw LeeRoy back in ‘94 at the West End in Dallas. Ran into an ole guitar player I used to be in a band with in ‘89. Next thing I knew, I was in his band and we cut two albums. Lasted 8 great years. Thanks LeeRoy for the best running gig I ever had.👍
Met Lee Roy Parnell in 2006 back stage after a gig at the Key Palace Theater, he was checking out my Les Paul, and acted shocked when I asked him to sign it. He turned it over and I said NO I want you to sign it right on the front where everyone can see it. He said "I'm not gonna ruin that beautiful ax by putting my name on the front of it" I said please dude, I'd love it. He said "Ok brother, it's your ax" lol. What a great and humble guy he is. I always loved him for his slide playing, but man when you hear him LIVE, his voice is AMAZING too. Rock on Lee Roy Parnell. So happy to have met you, and I hope you get to keep doing this as long as you choose to.
Lee Roy Parnell is so very sexy in my opinion. Noone can play the slide guitar like him. Loved seeing him in concert and meeting him backstage for an autograph.
You will see lots of comments about how people compartmentalize what they hear. This is the most accurate description I’ve read. I am lucky enough to get Delbert, Steve Wariner, Leroy Parnell, Dale Watson, even Red Voelkart come through town periodically. It’s how I know there is a God in Heaven. None of these guys are dependent on Nashville OR L.A. for style guidance. They’re just out there doing what they love, and it shows. Of course I would love to hear them appreciated to the point they would be on top of the charts, making a lot of money. But being famous and knocking down a lot for gigs isn’t what moves them. Try to go out and see their shows. Enjoy live entertainment. They will give you a great experience.
@@allenkennedy6748 Ive been digging Leroy for a long time. But all those names you mentioned that never gets any air play. Well you can hear them all on Sirrus XM ch. 60, Outlaw country. If you love this music, please check out outlaw country. Sirrus XM is the best thing to happen to trucking since the CB radio.
you know you wonder how some make it big in the music industry with basically no talent or voice. Then, you have someone like Lee Roy, who gets shuffled to the side that is the total package. I think the word INTEGRITY might just be the underlining reason. Loved him the first time I heard him, love him today. Rock-On .......the person you come across as is solid gold (platinum).
They don't make them better than this guy. He's my favorite of all time and then comes George Strait. Yes, George Strait is the king but longevity comes into play. However, Lee Roy Parnell is the man I want front row seats for.
Met LeeRoy Parnell back in 1980-81, while visiting one of his gigs on 6th street in Austin, TX. Way back when. I was with his cousin Nancy Burdick, and we all enjoyed a nice time. Great talent he is.
I had the pleasure of meeting this guitar great in Oct of '17 and this man has not lost a step, beat or measure in his playing or vocals! Very genuine and humble artist! Can't wait to see him perform again!!! Cheers, LRP!!!
Like Jackson Browne and David Lindley rolled into one with a hefty dose of southern blues and soul. So hip. Then again, would you expect any less from a guy who's favorite music is the blues and who's big influences are Lowell George and Duane Allman?
He does a lot of shows with Delbert McClinton. I wish He would put a professional Band together, not just his Pals, but then, maybe, the chemistry wouldn't be there.
Delbert is one hell of a performer. "setting over the corner, night after night.........you never been rocked enough, you never been rolled just right"......man, that's some music.
I have been a fan of Lee Roy since I first heard him, and then watched him perform, and bought a couple of his cds. He's always come across as a nice person, and he's from the area of the world where I live.
Lee Roy is a very underrated singer, but he managed to carve his own place in our hearts with songs like 1. On the road 2. What kind of fool do you think I am? 3. Lucky me, lucky you 4. Heart's desire 5. I'm holding my own 6. When a woman loves a man (Ft. Trisha Yearwood) 7. Tender moment 8. Love without mercy

Great voice, and what a slide guitarist too! Criminally underrated dude...
Totally agree.

It gives me joy to see how much fun that back up singer is having starting at 2:55
He sounds a lot like Jackson Browne. I'm glad I watched this. Thanks.
SaintFredrocks I never thought of that. But now that you mention it I totally agree with you!
Call it what you will, country, rock, southern rock, hot new country, whatever. But that's what I call MUSIC!

I met him in 2010 or 2011 after a show and he was wonderfully gracious and friendly.
I always know Lee Roy's slide before he sings...distinctive...❤❤❤
