Buy one of those shade sails and hook it over the area, its an easy and inexpensive solution that works, it's what we did and it worked very well for shade.

Hi Michael, the sun has been very dangerous over the past 10 years, and more each year. Even here in Switzerland, you cannot stay long in the sun. I see in South-Africa it's the same - then I assume it's the same everywhere. You should cover the entrance area of your property - shade is gold now.
