My father Alvin C McDaniels Army, PFC, Company L, 23rd Infantry, 2nd Div, fought in the Battle for Brest and Normandy. Earned a Bronze Star and two Purple Hearts.
My stepmother was from Brest and described to me her experience during this very action.
My late father served with the 2nd division. He told me of the horrific stories about the landing at Omaha Beach through V-E day.
Too much valuable film used up on the distant smoking city, and not enough focus on the men. Still this is great footage. Thank you!
My great grandfather was in the US NAVY and was in Brest, FR in 1918-1919!
I found a 19 year olds grave in Ashland City, TN who was KIA on September 13, 1944. He was in the 23rd infantry, was this the area he would have died in?
He was probably there, I’ve been researching my great grandfather who served in the 23rd he was a Tennessee boy as well.
I believe only the 29th Infantry division 2nd Infantry division 8th infantry Division and 2nd Rangers faught for Brest
@@vietcongfish1618 the 2nd infantry has a 23rd regiment within it not to be confused with the 23rd americal infantry
@@TheTomtomT mah bad lol
@@vietcongfish1618 no worries 🤙🏼

I don't think alot of the ww2 footage has audio recordings with it. The sadness is immeasurable.
