People really are sleeping on Isagi. It's interesting that the ones who sing his praises the most seem to be the readers who know soccer pretty well. They're the ones who recognize him as one of if not the strongest players in Blue Lock (not the world of Blue Lock, just the facility).

Isagi's coach was bullshitting, he's on the cusp of being a top tier striker, but right now is a goated midfielder. I still believe in him becoming a striker of legend!
I really hate it when other readers doesn't count Isagi getting a goal against Ubers. Before the latest chapter (as of this comment), they even have theories saying it won't count or that it'll be off field. And they also doesn't see is as a natural progression, that it seemed out of character for him to obtain that lefty shot in just a few days. But if they binge read, it's actually a steady progression and it's quite amazing to see, and it seem natural for me (including him shooting with his left). Isagi's creating a strong foundation as a soccer player, both in mind and body (while playing to his stronger capabilities and working around his limitations), whereas I could already see other players plateauing or headed that way (big red flags with Reo and Nagi's egos or motivations for example, that's detrimental to their growth. I also see red flags with others but it's too subtle that I might just be reading too much into those lol). Isagi might have been overshadowed by the other's more flashy skills previously but he's starting to shine. And in the light novel, he already has the potential that Ego (plus the characteristics that the narrator revealed during Isagi's childhood) saw before Isagi even realized what his weapon is. It hurts when I see people dismissing Isagi's handwork and locked talent (that's starting to bloom again after Ichinan), that they sound like Tada haha. But I'm learning to just ignore the haters and just enjoy the manga and have a good time with Blue Lock.

For me, the best player on the pitch is the number 10. And the number 10 is the guy behind the forwards, who creates the plays and see the game. If you really want to understand Isagi, you should investigate about these kind of players: Xavi, Modric, Riquelme, kroos... Those are the players he can be compared with. Kaiser and Sae were/are barely even trying in these games. They aren't even sweating. The author shows this blatant detail because Isagi is breaching into the mental levels of kaiser and Sae. Sae and kaiser are perma using meta vision as a foundation. Isagi is using it as a special skill. He has a long way to go

I still think he is more of an Offensive Midfielder (probably the best in BL after Sae) rather than a striker. Not being able to win 1v1s seems like a very big weakness, but maybe he will tackle that challenge in future chapters

Only now we will see Isagi establish himself as a true striker. The match agains PXG and Bastard will be his official crowning ceremony.
