    Ryan hit the nail on the head - I’ve been told by multiple male partners during arguments when I’d be scared/confused by what they’re saying/how they’re saying it, “Why are you acting like this right now? You’re acting like I’m hitting you.” I always ended up apologizing to them then retreating to silence.

      I agree...I also hope we get to a point when we hear a woman is physically abusive, and we don't immediately jump to excuse it or find reasons for the behavior. When a man hits a woman, there is no discussion about mental health or trauma, it's immediate condemnation, it's "believe all women," "there's never a reason to hit a woman" or my favorite "what did he do, that she had to defend herself"... its always approached from a victim angle when the woman is abused, and that should always be the case regardless of the gender.

    2:11 I don't live in the US so honestly, this part was shocking. Where I live people's first reaction is to victim blame and even with the evidence and court decision, people's reaction is always "well you should've done what they wanted" or "you shouldn't talk about these things out loud" - very much suffer by yourself thing. Believing women is just not a thing. Men tend to band tgt no matter what's done and justify it. It's scary.

    I am just going to say this. I agree. Verbal abuse is also as bad as physical abuse. Although, I don't dismiss physical and s*xual abuse, bad verbal communication can be hurtful too. Also, "We Cry Together" by Kendrick Lamar is a good example of a toxic relationship.

    • @liizzset
      @liizzset 2 года назад +2

      @@OhGeeGanksta that is true. Chris Rock ain't wrong. One of the GOATs in comedy ever. Let us agree that any type of abuse is bad. And no human sure should not go through it. Firstly and most importantly that is what I agree with. And don't have to agree with me on the rest but here is this.
      I don't want to lessen physical abuse. And most from personal experience. Want to make it clear. Secondly, there is a recent study that suggest that even though physical abuse is extremely dangerous. And cause brain swelling to a person if struck by a punch to the head. But that verbal is as much damaging to the brain. But, to an lesser extent. However, it still lights up the same areas self defense and trauma protection mechanisms in the brain as physical abuse. And it is still a relevant new study, so as studies go it might fall apart in the future. Once people used to think lead is good for you. And now we found out it is posionous. Some claim that it is the reason for being physical abusive. But that is either a video from Vice or Vox or Discovery. But that is besides the point.
      Thirdly, I have meet some people who have been physically abused. And read some stories about this. And escaped their situations. Battered and bruised. You can see the pain in their eyes when they talk about it. I met a person who seemed cold to the point about it. But that is not the point. And some say it is the mental side of the abuse that still remains with them longer after recovery. And their escape.
      Again not saying it is not worse but want it to be acknowledged. Physical and sexual are way worse but verbal can be there too.

    I remember getting into it with a dude after I expressed my disappointment when word was out that Depp was gonna be taken off from Fantastic Beast. That 2nd movie (even though I thought it was terrible) really showed what Johnny could bring to this Grindelwald character. Dude I got into it was like "It doesn't matter what we think. It's proven, he's been abusing her for years" this moron was just so ready to "believe women" that he went crazy on me over hearsay on the internet. And as shitty as that was, WB and other people were the same as him. Stamping guilty on Johnny forehead before any evidence was even on the table.

    To correct Bart's point at the beginning, it's cause in the 90's and early 2000's, Toxic Masculinity was so bad. So Men were held to such a tough standard and were expected to handle any and all abuse, but even a little bit of outburst towards a woman would be taken so seriously. So yeah, another thing we can actually thank feminism for. That Men who were domestically abused, most likely kept it to themselves or had even worse fates.

    • @Krjwzhr
      @Krjwzhr 2 года назад

      Like you said, it’s toxic masculinity… but just like feminism, the consequences and abuse is rooted in the patriarchy and misogyny. Don’t blame feminism for this. You ask me, the further we stray from religion, the more shit like this happens. There’s a reason our brain has a dedicated area for religion. We act like we’re above needing God-given rules way too much, and it’s messing everything up. For example, being like Jesus is irrefutably a good thing to do, yet people act like you’re crazy for trying to be like him and following his teachings. Backwards world.

    • @raikan6601
      @raikan6601 2 года назад

      Nah, not everyone practice religion. And honestly catholics around me at work who are married are fucking other people in our office, yet you see them on social media posting aftermass with their family acting lovey dovey and shit, poor wife she had no idea her husband did a bavarian cream pie with one of our co workers. Btw thats againts one of the 10 commandments if I'm not mistaken. So religion isn't always the key to be a good person, it depends on the individual themselves and their upbringing.

    • @stevenc8717

      @@raikan6601 You can’t say you’re being like Jesus without actually being like Jesus. Are they being like Jesus? No. Simple as that.
      They also seem like they’re not being honest about their faith and making a daily, hourly effort to be like Jesus; So why look at them as if they’re the main example of what Christianity looks like? Frankly, the thought process makes zero sense. It’s ~generalization~ society that acts & teaches that that thought process is sane.
