An inkjet will work, but you'd have to convert it to a sublimation printer. Example... I have the Epson 2760 and I'll be converting it to a sublimation printer by added sublimation inks. Or you can just save yourself the trouble and buy sublimation from the beginning. I just already have the Epson and was like why not.
So because the glasses are curved I'd say no, the machine won't nestle around the sides, the key is whatever item we press has to be straight walled. Hope that makes since...
The down side to this is that it will cost A LOT more to use infusible ink than sublimation ink. Cricut has a very big mark up on this. The mugs used are regular poly coated mugs, mostly from Asia where most of the world buy's them from. And they are cheap. And using infusible ink is very limited on designs. You can not print a photo or a logo and a special design like a cartoon figure or say like graffiti etc. You are limited to Circuit's ink. The plus side of this is just the machine itself. Those like me that use the normal, poplar mug heat press know that it can take time to get the settings right on these machines. And the manual is no help. But this Cricut machine may just change all that. So I will be looking into the machine to use with my sublimation inks where I have the freedom in all designs.
Yeah, while I was researching I started to understand that just the press + regular sublimation products maybe the real winner here, I appreciate your comment.
@imSEWpink You still need sublimation products, you just don't have to buy directly from Cricut. I'll be doing a video using all non-cricut products and we'll see how it goes 🤷🏽♀️
@@ColorMePorcha Yeah. I just saw a RUclips video that someone tried it with sublimation ink and it came out perfect. So I think I will be getting a machine to use for my sublimations! I don't buy Cricut products. They cost too much. Just their machines to get the job done.
You covered everything I need to know before buying. I am concerned about the price of the mugs by Cricut. And I know nothing about sublimation. But will be looking into those mugs to save money. Hope they fit😱🤣. Will be awaiting the machine to go on sale. I'm a Silhouette Cameo Gal who can't work on full length machine anymore. So, I bought a Joy which has been a joy to have with exception of Design Space. But very much interested in this gadget. Will be looking for your videos.
One way is to do a screen grab of the image. With Windows you can use the "snipping tool" or shift-command-4 on a mac. From there you can remove the background and upload it to the silhouette software.

Yes you can use a Silhouette. Thanks so much for the sub. I pray that you are able to craft again as well. Crafting can be therapy to the soul😊 Sending nothing but positive vibes your way🙏🏽
I have not used the press yet so I don't a definitive answer. It seems like it would work, with a press that's under 60 seconds. It's something I'm thinking about testing out when my order arrives.
@@ColorMePorcha I don’t think we will see in here in Australia on the 11th. Always limited with stock when new products arrive. I’ve always used a mug press so I will follow your reviews.
I have not used the machine yet, but based on what I know about it, at the end of the day it's still a heat transfer machine. So ideally we would be able to press different HTV products.
I couldn't find the temperature that it heats up to, but it may be 400°, do you happen to know? When I get it I will be testing it out with different products.
Hi! I was more so referring to the shape. But anything you use the infusible ink with or sublimate on has to have that polyester coating in order to press an image. That would be nice but it's really hit or miss with Dollar Tree. Hope that makes sense😊
It makes beautiful mugs but for the price mine lasted less than two years. I've had it for 1.5 years with gentle use and just went out on me. I'm going to try talking with customer services but I'm 6 months out of warranty. It is too expensive to replace in less than two years. If customer service can't help I will be buying something else that is longer lasting and durable.
Thanks for the tips!!! I've been researching and this was very helpful!!!
You're welcome; best wishes 😊
I bought one. It’s awesome and makes beautiful mugs. Well worth it!
Agreed👍
Thank you, I ordered mine this morning. If you order on Joann’s website the infusible ink and mugs are 1/2 price
Wow, that's great to know, ty
Thanks for letting me know YYYEEESSS!!!!!!!!

I would like to know if you have to buy a special printer. Would an inkjet printer work?

Thank you so much this video answered all the questions I had about the mug press

Tyfs, I’m also doing my research. Lol, This video was so informative. I think I’m going to purchase one. Thanks again 💖
Thank you, I appreciate you watching 😊
I purchased this online this morning. I wish it was cheaper. Thanks for the tips.
You're welcome 😊
Thank you for sharing for all the information.

Interested in this press. Too bad they didn’t make it temperature controlled so you could use it for htv also.
Agreed 👍
I’ve seen a video using htv, you only let it heat to the second of third light.
@@TCflorida Oh really I will have to check it out thanks.
Excellent info!!! Thank you so much for this video.

Can you use it on Champagne glasses? (not expensive ones)....will it "press down" into a narrower space?
So because the glasses are curved I'd say no, the machine won't nestle around the sides, the key is whatever item we press has to be straight walled.

It's not limited to Cricut's infusible ink or Cricut mugs.

Very informative. Great video. Thank you.
Ty, appreciate you watching!
Release date in Australia is 1November, but we don't have the bundle option.
Wow, that sucks, you'll just have to create your own bundle 😉😊
So...I use a brother scan and cut, can I use the mug press stand alone?
Yes it's a stand alone machine, no other Cricut stuff needed.
I have the cricut mug press but a Silhouette cutter is it possible to send my cricut designs to my Silhouette cutter

You also can use sublimation paper.. And Walmart has it for $185.00 online.
Thanks for the price ✔, that's the lowest I've seen!
Will this work with sublimation ink and paper?
Yes it will. That's something I'll be testing out when it's delivered.
Can I press a 20 oz tumbler?
Yes, I've done it several times.
Here's one example: ruclips.net/video/XiJZMls6KPc/видео.html
Can I use HTV with the mug press
Not sure, haven't tried it yet
Joanns has the mugs half off and sale on the ink online.
Thanks for the tip!
@@ColorMePorcha no problem!
After i saw the mugs go on sale I order one, but when mugs were 2 for $20 I said no thank you. The tumblers need to go on sale.
Great information!! Is this mug press only limited to infusible ink?
From what I understand at the moment yes, when I get it I'll be able to share info...
I heard you can use sublimation paper
That does make sense
@@Grave_Hunter_of_Aus Yes there’s a lady that used sublimation photo . It worked well.
Yeah, I just came across her last night, came out the press smoking!
Can you use the Cricut mug press to attach heat transfer vinyl to mugs?
I have not used the press yet so I don't a definitive answer. It seems like it would work, with a press that's under 60 seconds. It's something I'm thinking about testing out when my order arrives.
Are there special instructions to heat transfer vinyl mugs like no dishwasher or microwave allowed?
Yep, when you use htv on ceramic, it's a hand wash only situation and putting it in the microwave may mess with the adhesive
From the other videos I’ve seen, no you cannot muse HTV with the Cricut Mug Press.
Could you use a skinny sublimation tumbler?
Might be too small. The average skinny tumbler is like 3" wide and the smallest mug this press will take is slightly over 3".
Look forward to your review Porcha
