What a delightful interview! It's great to hear the composer share his feelings and process of composition. As a Singer and a Composer, I can appreciate it immensely.

23:01 Ian Campbell states he doesn't know of any composer whose first work (I assume he means opera) was such a great success. (paraphrase) Really? Uh, Peter Grimes? Wozzeck? Hänsel und Gretel? Pagliacci? Cavalleria Rusticana? Pelléas et Mélisande? Vanessa? Porgy and Bess? (difficult early history but the songs were immediate hits) And I'm sure I'm missing lots of others. I guess he's never heard of those operas. What a ridiculously stupid thing to say.
