the food at the beginning could be a mooncake...mid autumn festive food. The mid-autumn Festival is next Tuesday and there will be lots of lanterns and people will be out to see the full moon. Every year mid-autumn festival is the 15th August in the lunar calendar.

The hotel only costs 35 US dollars a night, which is very cheap. It's not a star hotel, so it's cheap. The tricycle you take is not expensive. The price given by the hotel is only a reference price, which is the price for locals. If you are a foreigner, it may be more expensive. But once the price is negotiated, it will not be changed. What happens in India is that halfway through the ride, the driver will increase the price, and if he doesn't agree, he will leave the customer where he is, which makes people very angry. This kind of thing will not happen in China. Prices in China are very cheap and most people can afford it. When in Guilin, you must eat the local Guilin rice noodles. It is very delicious, cheap and authentic.

It's not that it's cheap, it's that it's accessible to anyone who wants to stay there for a while. In the West, it's expensive because they don't care about accessibility so that many people can stay and visit the place, but rather to privilege those with purchasing power above average.

many of the chinese pastries are better with hot tea, or coffee, since they are often dry and even powdery in some cases. it's somewhat of an acquired taste which I enjoy but not really a fan of the floral ones 😅

Moon cake is literally a kind of tea cake, because we normally don't put sugar into hot tea, therefore "tea cake" should be sweat.
