Allow this old fourth generation vet to salute you my brother vet. My three older brothers, my dad and four uncles, my grandpa and two great uncles and so on served.
It was interesting when you talked about how young they were. I went in the Army a week after I turned 17, I spent first four years of active duty service with the 1st Inf. Before I was old enough to drink. Within three months of my Honorable discharge, I had enlisted in the Coast Guard and upon receiving my second honorable discharge, I spent many years working for DOD contractors. It's not just a different way of life, but you end up viewing things outside of it differently than most who haven't setved. Now divorced and living with TBI and PTSD under a VA program for homeless vets. I spend most of my time alone, reflecting. I tell people if I had it to do over, I would. People will ask me if I'm mad that the government let me down? How did they let me down? They never promised me a damn thing, other than what I earned in metals or awards, my Honorable discharge, a place to be buried and a flag to be buried under, when time. I never swear an oath to the government or any party. My oath was to the people to protect the constitution. Every step in life that brought me to this place I'm at, was my steps, my actions, my decisions and my outcome to live. Besides there are brother and sister vets out there in worse shape than me. The sad thing about the battle within, is you can get so silently focused on the internal battle that no one else hears, you can lose everything outside it. Life it is what it is.

Thank you for your service! I only have highest respect for anyone who can make that call to fight for our country! My father was in the Army, thankfully during peace time. My son joined the Army after 9/11 and was in Iraq, thankfully he came back safe. So many didn't come home safe and it breaks my heart when I think of them

Toby Keith just passed last week. He did “Courtesy of the Red, White and Blue”. It’s a powerful video and song. I don’t know why when we lose military personnel it’s not the first story on the news. RIP to these families.

Thank you for your service to this country. Please know that Trace Adkins has been an avid supporter of our troops including traveling with the USO and The Wound Warrior Project just to name a few. I dare say that no other genre of music supports our military and their families like the people associated with country music. God bless America, our military and their families, and of course our fallen heroes on this Memorial Day weekend. 🇺🇸 🤟

The picture you see near the end of the video is Patrick Ray Nixon, he was a Marine who died in Iraq. You see his headstone & images of his funeral throughout the video. This song was written about him.

Listening to your thoughts on your time in, I think you might appreciate Trace Adkins’ song “Til the Last Shot’s Fired”. Seriously, I think you’d appreciate the message that comes along with that song. The live version with the West Point Glee Club really hammers the message home.

My great uncle is buried at Arlington National Cemetery. He was a Lieutenant Colonel US Air Force. Vietnam Vet. He flew an F4 Phantom and went on 66 combat missions with a little more than 4 air to air kills. Before that he flew a B47 Bomber that crashed in Tampa Bay Florida 30 seconds after takeoff with duel engine failure and he stayed with his aircraft until he knew it was no longer over the neighborhoods below and punched out before the aircraft crashed into the ocean. Him and his co-pilot survived but his navigator died when his parachute didn’t open when he ejected. My uncle spent 40+ years in the Air Force and went on to fly everything from F100 Saber, B-47 Bomber, F4 Phantom, then became a test pilot and flew F-14 Tom Cat, F15 and a first generation A-10. He was buried at Arlington when he died and we wanted him to be buried next to my great grandfather his father but they never recovered my great grandfathers remains after the Japanese Hellship he was on was sunk at sea during WWII. He was a Lieutenant Colonel in the Army and was a POW who was in the Batan Death March in the Philippines. But thank you for your service man. I am a new subscriber to your channel now!
Rest In Peace to the five fallen US Marines killed in the helicopter crash.

I just saw something so horrible, to me, on the news.. Humas spray painting monuments in our Capital and burning our Flag. I remember as a young child 50 yrs ago going to Arlington.. It's a profound place to be. I can't imagine why these ppl are allowed to deface our countries monuments. and it scares me they might take it to the next level and go to Arlington. It's sacred ground for our fallen soldiers.. it has to stop.
