At 6:00 you see all that bright blue coral. It was screaming for help. I did this dive today, 08/25/2021, and we didn’t see ANY of those corals in Los Arcos. It was mostly brown and colorless. Water temp was 85 degrees F. My heart is sad. 💔
In this video at the 6 minute mark what you are actually seeing are anemones not corals and they mainly only grow in one shallow area on the shore side of the most northern island at Los Arcos past the far end of the arch. It is in a remote spot so it isn't likely you were diving in that same spot. If all you are seeing is brown looking rocks I recommend you dive closer. Vallarta is full of wonderful colors but you need to dive up close to the reefs to see it. Also the water gets very warm every summer and it causes some of the corals to bleach and then later when the water cools down again they get there color back. What you are seeing is not climate change - you are seeing the natural cycle that happens here in the summer every year. Los Arcos has a lot of dive sites - my favorite is the flats also known as Baha de Cristo. Lots of corals and fish. I was diving Los Arcos yesterday on our way back from diving out at Chimo and there was plenty of color but again there are many locations to dive at so it will depend on where you went. You could dive Los Arcos sites easily for a week or two and never have to hit the same patch of reef.
Thanks very much. It really depends on what you want to see. I did put some headings in various spots in the video saying where they were taken. I would recommend you use Twin Dolphins as your dive shop because that can make a big difference. You can even tell them you watched my videos and want to get a similar experience. One of my favorite spots is El Morro but again it really depends on what you want to see and how lucky nature lets you get during the dives. I my opinion the best conditions for diving in PV are in the summer.
Thanks for the question. It really depends on what you want to see. For unspoiled reef with lots of corals & fish I recommend El Moro or Chimo but both are advanced dives with strong current much of the time.

Where would you recommend diving in puerto vallarta. Which dive sites specifically. Your video is great
